About
What's up? I'm D-Sane. I like to play video games. When I'm not gaming, I like to watch terrible movies and laugh at them, usually while drinking. I also like to spend a weekend or two watching the entire series of TV shows that I like. I work as a tech assistant to a real estate agent in Austin, TX.

I also write about video game and non-video game related stuff on this site. http://www.TearsOfTime.Com

So I have reached a roadblock. I am trying to play the old school DOS versions of King's Quest V and VI (two great games from my childhood) and I keep having trouble emulating it. I have gotten a few files off of abandonware websites and I Googled a few different programs that should have run them. I tried using DOSBox and WINUAE.

Does anyone know a simple way to set this all up? I have removed all the files I downloaded due to frustration. Does anyone know of a free flash version of these games? I tried Googling those as well with poor results.

Tech Specs of my PC:
Laptop running Windows XP SP2
1.73 GHz processor
1 GB RAM
14.8 GB HDD

Any ideas? Also, post your thoughts about the King's Quest series.

Woah, Dude. You'll need a computer that can run something like Crysis to be able to get those games to work.
Use magic : UNICORN HORNED PANDA PAINTED DOLPHINS MAGIC !
Vogons (Very Old Games on New Systems) might be able to help?

Sierra online has this page: http://www.sierrahelp.com/Games/KingsQuest/KQ5AndXP.html

Otherwise, I suggest searching ebay for an old dos box.

Good luck!

Also, Nicholson's pecs.

dosbox and a "legal" copy of KQ5. If you can get it to run please let me know as I am dying to play these games too. I just need to find a copy of the game.
I think GameTap might have all the King's Quest games if you were thinking of checking it out anyway. They've got Space Quest.
I know your problem, the ghost of Roberta Williams past is keeping you from playing that illegal copy. The simplest way to get it running is to buy the collection Sierra released a year or two ago, it's fully compatible with windows xp. It came out for $19.99 but you can get it cheaper than that on ebay or amazon (though amazons game section seems to be screwed up right now). That said, all sierra did was package it with Dosbox and has the setting already all sussed out so if you tinker enough with the setting you should be able to get it to work with the copy you own now.
as long as you have all the "files" for the game just get scummvm. here is a game compatibility list.

damn just noticed 5 and 6 arnt on there. weird. but dosbox should work.
