It will break the day after warranty...that's what happened to me.
If you own a 360, there is NO reason why you shouldn't own Orange Box.
Dead Rising is the best game on xbox 360. Twenty dollars or less.
Your 360's under warranty from Microsoft for Red Ring until at least November. If it has HDMI or whatnot, it's far newer, and is under warranty for longer.
If it breaks in a non-red ring, put it in the microwave and fry the chip. Instant red ring.
I've got a few 360 games I'm looking to get rid of for less than $20 each. PM if you want to know what they are.
Gamestop is having that 50 % off select used games and I picked up The Darkness for 8 dollars. I don't remember much else that was worth picking up. I remember prey and spiderman 3 were somewhere around the same price range. You can use your edge card and get an extra .75+ cents off awesome!
@ Akk
My 360 is from November of 2006. That aside, do you think it would be covered, being used like it is? If so, I'd be pleasantly surprised.
@ BSD
That game is definitely on my list.
@ randombullseye
That's another one I was eyeballing, but I think I might try the demo first, if one is available.
@ Usedtabe
I'll keep that in mind. ;)
You can probably pick up Oblivion on the cheap, and it's a fantastic game. I bought it used at Gamestop for $30, and that was about 6 months ago. They even fucked up and gave me the disks for the Game of the Year edition (with extra content/expansion packs) at the regular price.
I put in 100+ hours on that game, so it was well worth the $30 for me.
@Char
You got the extra content for free!? No wonder you're always playing Oblivion. I got mine for 26$ at Blockbuster.
I a few weeks ago found Crackdown for 15$ there and they had a special buy one get one free deal so I got Marvel Alliance free with Crackdown. Now that's an awesome deal.
I forgot to mention that I'm open to all sorts of genres. I'll I'm after is good games. :)
@ Char
I think I saw the GotY edition over there on the cheap the other day. If I can get it used, then I can always take it back if it doesn't work for me, so there's nothing to be lost in giving it a try. I'll keep this one in mind.
Senko no ronde best niche game on the system
Go check you local Target. I got Bully brand new a few days ago for $15 and Gamrestop takes returns for any reason on used games as long as it hasnt been over 7 days. Also Orange Box and Gears of War
Hmn. I might have to take that bitch back and get it at Target then. It's only been...like 4 at most since I bought it.
I totally forgot about Gears. @_@
how has no one said viva pinata?????? one hell of an addictive game thats a good time killer.
saints row was a pretty good good investment for about a dub.
also hit up xbox land for super cheap games as well. mgs 2, time splitters 2, silent hill 2 all ran me $5 or less each.
@Randombullseye
lol Yeah, imagine my surprise when I open it up and see two discs in there with "Game of the Year Edition" on them. I actually didn't realize this until I had already played like 40 hours of the game, so that was a sweet bonus. That was the best $30 I've spent in a long time.
@Cyberxion
I also second the recommendations for Crackdown and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. They're both great games, and Marvel is especially fun if you have three friends to play with. You can find Marvel for pretty cheap, now that it and Forza are being bundled with the system in certain deals. What is your Gamertag, by the way?
you could probably find the first Rainbow Six Vegas for under $20 or $15. that is an excellent game. Call of Duty 2 is a solid shooter which should be available for around $10. I liked Tony Hawk's Project 8. If you like tony hawk games that one is solid and can give you a lot of play time. I would be surprised if that costs more than $15. Burnout Revenge is $40 new, not sure what it is used, but they are supporting that game very well. lots of new content released for free.
@BSD:
WTF. PC GAMING FTW?
Also add me GT: Mr Wilson954
Earth Defense Force if you see it.
I'm glad you were able to get a new system, but be warned: It's NOT refurbished. When GameStop says they "refurbished" one of the new consoles, they mean that they just formatted the hard drive and called it good. My used PS3 from there died literally less than 24 hours later, and the employee there actually admitted to my face that all they did was format the memory.
I hope it lasts for you, though. Enjoy it. :)
welcome and I just hope your doesn't act up like mine is doing once again (not reading my discs)
Halo3 is always a good choice if you like to play online. The Halo3 party bus is in full swing. Bungie probably has the best community management department in the industry, well, them and Blizzard.
Ohh, and the replay (theater) mode is the best non-essential addition to console FPS games.
I'd recommend Crackdown, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, and Viva Pinata off the top of my head.
Like Ambulance said, Xbox titles are also on the cheap, and some are 360 compatible.
Not sure how much it costs now, but skate. is a good choice. Also Conan, and the newer Lost Planet are both worth it to me.
Give it a little time and the red rings will attack!
I'll add those of you who have posted your gamertags tonight. Mine is simply...Cyberxion. Yeah, I'm really f'ing creative, eh? :P
So I've got a nice list of titles to look into. I'm pretty sure I saw all of 'em used over at Gamestop. So now it's all about the cash. Next payday is going to be sweet.
@ pedrovay2003
I had my doubts about whether or not it was a refurb. Though it costs ten bucks extra for a refurbed system, so I better have gotten one. Eh, whatever the case may be, I've still got a bit over two weeks for the thing to die on me before I'm unable to take it back, so we'll see what happens.
Feel free to keep the suggestions coming though. :)
Add me, I dont HAVE my 360 yet, but its on its way from dtoid... I made a gamertag in anticipation.
Gamertag : DESTRUCT0ID (Thats a zero for the last 0)
also blue dragon is freakin awesome if your a fan of turn based rpg's, the only downside i've found in my 8+ hours with it is character designs are standard akira toriyama, dragon ball z with slightly different hair styles & clothing.
it's bout 25 bucks used i think, and spanning 3 disks it's well worth more than that.
Dude get Dead Rising or Oblivion for sure.
I didn't enjoy Dead Rising or Oblivion.
If you want to be my friend, do so. My gamertag is already on Destructoid in no less than four places.
Orange Box dude. I only own like, 4 360 games. But I only play Forza2 and Gears.
