The major problem I have with the game is that they focused the entire song list on a band I don't like. The game isn't fun if you don't like the songs. It's also a full price game for 35 songs, which is much smaller than any of the numbered Guitar Hero games. As for why the internet seems to hates it? Who knows. It became cool to hate Guitar Hero sometime around the time GH3 came out,
I don't really care for Aerosmith, but this is a fun game. It's also much easier than GHIII, as I racked up 540/1000 achievements in the first day, five-starring every song on hard the first run-through. To put that in perspective, I'm still at the Lou battle on hard mode in GHIII. The only song in this game that's really giving me trouble is "Train Kept A'Rollin" on expert. The chord section in that song is ridiculous. It makes RB's version look like child's play.
Anyway, this is a fun game, even if you don't like Aerosmith.
When God Gives You Lemons
YOU FIND A NEW GOD!
It's a generational thing. The people that are downing the game probably weren't around (or old enough to remember) during Aerosmith's time at the top.
Music has changed drastically since they first hit the scene, as have peoples' tastes in music.
I still think they are the greatest band in the world, but then again, I'm older than a lot of the members on Dtoid. Back when I was a kid, Aerosmith was actually considered pretty damn cool.
People say not to buy the game because it is a bastardization of the Guitar Hero franchise. Activision's has gotten to the point where they are milking it because people WILL buy it and it will make money. From what I played at my friends house, its just not a whole lot of fun when most of the set list is one band. With variety being lost, the game just doesn't feel right. Nevertheless, I will be renting it myself just so I can say I played through it, but I would think the only people that should buy it are die hard Aerosmith fans.
If anything, this game should have been cheaper and not full price.
The reason people hate Guitar Hero:Aerosmith is because it's the cool cousin of Guitar Hero: Rockin the 80's. But a cool guy from a retarded family is still retarded.
That's cool if you enjoy the game. I like Aerosmith, and I considered dropping the 60 bucks on the game, but decided I didn't want to support a quick cash-in for a band I don't hold a strong affinity towards.
Not to mention, reviews have been not so kind...and the other tracks included are ridiculously meh. But, again, if you like it, that's totally cool. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
But...more fun than Rock Band?
Oh my. I wish you hadn't said that.
I think it would be an ok game. I might rent it. I like Aerosmith, not enough to buy the game though. I would get made fun of for buying it.
I never could express my thoughts clearly when I was in college, I probably can't still. I'll try to clear them up a little bit.
I have more fun playing Rock Band in general.
The way I have to use my fingers to play these songs because I don't know how to play properly I downstrum everything and I mess up all the time if I try to hit the glowing notes with only the fret button. So saying that I'm having more fun in the process of playing it I suppose.
As far as enjoyment, rocking out with Rock Band with your friends is just awesome and it has better music.
$60 is too much though.
