I love Dtoid. I've been here for a while(not on this account), and I read almost every story that comes through the site. However, I have to say that the writing on this site has seen a serious drop-off lately. I can count at least three articles posted
today that contain some sort of grammatical error, and it's just a pain to be reading through a story and trip over a redundant word here, or a lack of a word there. I often have to try and interpret what the author of a particular sentence in an article actually meant through re-reading it over and over again until I realize what the sentence was originally supposed to mean. I understand that the staff really tries to get these stories out as soon as possible, and I appreciate that, but all I'm asking is that the articles could possibly be re-read at least once by the authors before being published. If anyone takes the time to read this, thanks, but if you're the type that only looks at pictures in c-blogs, here's a corgi sleeping on a couch:
also, I don't think it's been that bad... I've seen print mags with worse writing than the general standard on here. (hyper, I'm looking at you).
In regards to spelling/grammatical errors... as long as it's legible I have no problems.
Only information.
Also, some days are better then others, but everyone makes mistakes, as I'm not paying for the service I think even with occasional missteps the quality is still very good.
@ Kauza: Maybe it's just me that gets bugged by it, but these things kind of stick out and throw me off when reading an article.
Haha don't worry meng, we're all human here ;)
Is that dog's dick hanging out, or am I seeing things?
Yeah, I see what you mean with the minor spelling/grammar errors, as I've been trained to focus on that sort of thing in text. But I give Dtoid editors a pass in general, since they're usually cranking out multiple things a day and keeping us informed in a timely manner.
Quality hasn't dropped on Dtoid, our post count has increased. As I say, with increased work comes increased mistakes. We fix stuff as soon as we see it.
@Char Aznable: Yeah, that's where I'm coming from. I'm not trying to come down on the writers; I love the articles here. I really just wanted to bring some attention to this subject so that someone might check a little harder before posting. If I put something out that has an error, I don't mind going back to change it if someone points the mistake out to me, but I also understand that the writers are under time-constraints as well. Knowing that, maybe this post was for nothing, but I just wanted to see what others thought.
FAIL
Also, yes that is the dog's pee pee.
Still a cute dog though.
jokes aside, even if the journals make some minor mistakes, this happens in the industry, in TV ads, newspapers, web advertisement and other medias, now I know it is not correct, but I don't think that it has been to the point that the articles have many mistakes. For example, you already made 2 mistakes on your this blog:
one Dtoid, what the hell is a Dtoid? (Yes I know and understand its the short abbreviation of Destructoid created by the fans and owner, but grammatically, it is incorrect, so you sir are at fault as well); Also c-blogs it is a incorrect grammatical spelling, correct version is community blogs.
Now trust me, I SUK @ SPELLING, but I just want to clear the point that this happens to everyone, everywhere, no one is perfect and I dont think any of the articles have reached a getho thug version of blogging. Yu Heard Yo!?
wat was this about?
