I love the graphics, the cut scenes (at least the ones that have little to no dialect) the battle mode a bit, actually, the UI is cool, the select menu stuff is cool, but... this is too damn easy and I am starting to get seizures trying to follow the hp gauge of enemies and Stagger bar... the music is superb... all of this stuff is appreciated and tor-able but the one thing I am hitting boiling point because I can't take it anymore... is WHY DOES THE STORY SUCK SO EFFIN MUCH!?!?!?!!?!? KUNG POW MAKES MORE SENSE THAN FF13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the Dialog, want me to record some scenes and put it here for reference? Only reason I didn't do this is because it would be many spoilers and people who do enjoy the game I do not want to interrupt their enjoyment. But jesus I just had to vent that this is the worst dialog/voice acting I have ever seen.
Works for me. I'm enjoying this as much as X, if not alot more. Sure its got japanese vocal beats, but hey, japanese port, yeah?
Also, Snow's hero thing is ... that's kind of his thing, yeah? Lightening pretty much calls him on it. He's pretty inept as a leader, and that's (presumably/hopefully!) his journey.
Just don't expect anything Vanille says for the first 15 hours to make any sense, and find a way to mentally tune out anything Hope says at all, and the game gets much better. The rest of the characters are pretty good.
This is something I've been hearing from a couple of people. Seems like some things may have gotten lost in translation, because I never really noticed this in the Japanese version. The story fills in more as you progress so that should help clear things up.

I meant it makes more sense in the original Japanese. There are words and subtleties in Japanese that don't translate directly into English. It is very difficult to do it well but not being able to compare them I can't really say much.

If the way I wrote it didn't make sense to you, then go read the guy who is before me on this blog who also complained pretty much about the same exact things I tried to point out. Yeah, I'm on chapter 6 right now, and so far I've been forcing myself to try to like it. I mean, the dialogue is fucking terrible, the story is easy to follow, but still not that interesting, and the characters are weird as hell (and not in a good way). Lightning just comes off as retarded when she's just trying to be a bitch, Snow is too busy calling himself a hero to say anything interesting, and... you know what, all of the characters are just horribly flawed. Honestly, someone over there at SE needs to hire a new writer and character designer..
Can't wait for Pokemon and GoWIII to come out though :P

The "Don't worry about it right now" thing wasn't that bad, it's really just how Vanille's character is. She runs away from everything. And there was the fact that it was genuinely good advice, since they needed to get moving or they would be killed. Hope just takes the whole 'Deal with it later' idea too goddamn far and bitches about hating Snow for 20 hours of the game instead of confronting him in the, like, 10 times he had a chance to.
yep like Xzyliac said. If it wasn't for the superb top notch unbeatable CG animations/graphics + continue making fun of Sahz (and his little chocobo) I would turn it off.

Each time I see Vanille do some retarded comment then touch her breasts or rub them against the stupid emo kid Hope, then runs away for like 10 feet, it bugles my mind how the fuck this was passed by so many directors at Square-Enix. I am actually enjoying retardation.
Some of the VO is pretty terrible (like Vanille) but all of the dialogue makes sense, even if it is cringe-worthy at times. Overall, though, the game makes perfect sense, especially if you read the datalog. I think you're blowing this out of proportion. Did Lunar's bad VO and iffy localization ruin the game?
Vanille isn't so bad when she speaks in sentences that have more than 4 words at a time. Which isn't often during the first stretch of the game, unfortunately. I'm more concerned about how every 5th line she has, she does it in an Australian accent. That would be fine if she kept the accent the whole time, a la Fang, but it's more like she can't make up her mind which accent to speak in.
I can understand it just fine, it's pretty much your typical FF story type, have you played any others? If you understood those then you should be just fine here.
