After reading the front article in Destructoid and all the later news of everything Sony is doing, I am actually scared to the new upcoming technology. I just came to realize that this is no joke. Sony is really pushing for what they showed in a commercial back in early 2002 and this is also pushing other companies to jump aboard as well.
You might laugh at this PS9/PS2 commercial or get inspiration to know that if this was the future of gaming, you would have wished to be born in 2050 to really enjoy this new type of gaming. May be our grand children will get to enjoy such gaming as the PS9. But after hearing all the latest 3D news over the web and watched Final Destination 3, now I know we might get it sooner. Sony's announcement of the whole 3D entertainment has sky rocketed their business and not just theirs but everyone else as well.
By Sony taking the lead on this will force companies to jump in as well, Nintendo, Microsoft, Samsung, Apple, everyone else will be jumping in the market bandwagon to start plugging in people like in the matrix.
With technologies such as Project Natal, the PSeye toy, and Nintendo's never ending new peripherals, everyone is already heading for this technology and soon the competition will be no longer be in the digital world, but in the real world. Not just in gaming but also in film, the Sony Fusion 3D Camera System will allow recording of real life in 3D perspective which will be used in those new Bravia 3D TV's that are coming in 2010, watch the video on this link:
Sony is really pushing this new technology that is making other companies such as Fujifilm have a early grasp as well to get really going. To open more jobs for Film, Game, Medical, Architectural, well, basically in all fields. Their technology is really pushing boundaries and I am very excited for it because I work in this field and I can't wait how far we can go with this vast improvement.
Another form of technology is augmented reality, which will be helpful in not just gaming but other stuff in real life as well, like how to fix a car with actual precise instructions, like this BMW commercial that came out yesterday shows that the potential for 3D hasn't expanded to really fill the world with more and more jobs.

So yea, Make. Believe is no joke, this is just the beginning and if the world does not end in 2012, I can't wait to play FFXXX while strapped to the PSXBOX1080Wii and slash Yojimbo's beard in my virtual hologram of his samurai warrior. I applaud not just Sony, but all companies who embrace this technology because they are guaranteeing new jobs will start popping out in the digital field for entertainment.
I'm excited about the prospects that 3D tech presents. But I feel the only people that will really benefit from it are the early adopters.
I mean, a lot of people I know still game on sets that aren't even in HD. And I also feel that the early 3D tech won't be that great. And until there's an acceptance of it from the majority of the general public, the maker's of our favorite games probably won't invest much effort into it.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
