Call me Mr. Detective C. Just did a little research and found out that GT is owned by Viacom. Which if you know, Viacom and Microsoft are sucking each others rears... Well nothing new here right? but how far does the rabbit hole go?
Im pretty sure not all of their videos (well honestly, who knows) edited with the PS3 being either dubbed down, or even using the PS3 version with the logo replaced by the 360. And other sources have hit the web giving a bit more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameTrailers
"On May 11, 2008, GameTrailers was caught doctoring a PS3 vs 360 video. Some have alleged this is due to Microsoft paying GameTrailers."
hmmm tsk tsk tsk, and here I just thought brainderailment was just hatting on GT for stealing his GF, now I know why brain. Oh and you, the 360 naysayer want proof?

(oh please click on the video!)
Dec. 19, 2007 > Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but the companies said the deal has a projected base value of $500 million for the first five years.
"Viacom, Microsoft ink advertising partnership Deal valued at $500 million also involves content promotion"
NEW YORK - Media conglomerate Viacom Inc. and Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday they signed a deal worth at least $500 million to work together on advertising and promotion for TV shows and video games.
Also, Viacom switched from Google to Microsoft basing on this deal. Microsoft will be in complete charge of all marketing assets of Viacom for the next 5 years or so.
So... knowing Micro$oft I can bet you some dirty socks that allot of rigging has been going on. Specially on multi platform games... I remember seeing Oblivion review (dont remember if it was GT) looking better on the 360 than PS3, which I thought, well, probably the dev's did more on the 360 version than the PS3. However, when I actually played the game, it was backwards... I saw the 360 being just a tad less quality from the PS3 version after playing both. But back then I wasn't in Destructoid or any gaming blog, so I never made a post about it. But now that I see this, it makes me wonder... how many times has this been done...
$500,000, you can bet your Granpas soul some of it is buffing GameTrailers. If you watch the video, Phillippe Dauman says allot of it will go into publicity marketing for the xbox video game division.
So... apple pie anyone? you will need something tasty after reading this.
just wanted to point out, finding stuff like this makes me proud of being on Dtoid.
If more of these videos started to crop up, then I'd start questioning it more seriously. I'm sure Sony's been coughing up a hell of a lot of marketing money to Viacom too, seeing as they own most of cable television.
anyway, its a good find, and we probably will never actually know for sure just how far the rabbit hole actually goes... but nevertheless, i never actually use gametrailers for reviews, pretty much for trailers and clips... i just find video reviews to be annoying
And whoever does it deserves the bad publicity, Sony, MS, Nintendo, Sega, best not to get caught or you will be thrown to the flame pit. I understand one video is not enough, but couple of bloggers here have actually been saying this for a while, yet they are ignored.
If more of this comes to light, I'll be right there with you to burn the motherfucker down. They should be held under closer scrutiny, to be certain. But, for now, you're making a mountain out of a molehill.
I totally agree with you, but in all honesty, doing this to make a blog change of that game that came out last week thats being spammed all over the web, and I dare not to say the name otherwise it will consume us all again...
oh also...
he didn't...he had the zeroth post
I thought you super glued your /facepalm when I made my first blog o_O
And all of these BIAS complaints has been around forever. And they all come from fanboys themselves.
Its not limited to GT, its happened on Gamespot, IGN, or any popular game review site I've been on.
Fanboys love them some conspiracy to justify their side of the story.
I'd need a little more concrete evidence than a wiki MS is intentionally manipulating GT before buying into this conspiracy theory.
If I posted some screenshots on Destructoid, and accidentally labeled the PS3 ones "Xbox 360," would you put on your tinfoil hats for that? In fact, last year when I saw Smackdown vs. Raw on both the PS3 and the 360, I noted that the PS3 version looked -- to put it bluntly -- like junk. I posted screens from both games, and labeled them according to how they were given to me on an asset disc. Someone actually pointed out that on another site, the labels were reversed, insinuating that there was foul play somewhere.
Look, people are human, and with that comes a small amount of bias and even more often, mistakes. But to blow this Grid thing out of proportion like this is absolutely ridiculous.
For example, the Okami IGN cover art blooper. We all had our shits and giggles out of it, but no one gave a rats ass. or the 11/10 Cashwhore stuff we do in Dtoid, hey, Gamespot could just accidentally give those high reviews on those games from biased writers and no money is involved, and that fired reviewer probably got caught jerkin at the office, therefore he got fired for a good nondisclosure reason.
But for sakes argument, if GT really just messed up due to editing mistake, how come they just have come out accepted it as a mistake and apologized? Ive seen Dtoider bloggers make mistakes and quickly apologize for a very human kind mistake. I don't know Nick, just seems too convenient for GT>Viacom>MS. If it happened for the 360 or Wii, I would have researched as well and see what would have been up.
Look at my Mario post and you will see why.
