Now I am very happy that Kojima productions came with so many games for the PS3 and Xbox. I am actually happy he broke the barrier that's been demanded by so many players who love the Metal Gear Series, they really deserve it. But one thing has been buggin me... If you were to compare both presentations he did, look at how he presents both games in the Sony and Xbox conference. It felt a bit awkward.
First lets start with the Raiden game presentation in the Microsoft presentation. Yes I know its coming for both the 360 and PS3 (wheres the Wii version!?) but watch this video (again if you already did).
Hmm, he did impress us with his english, he didn't use a translator but he kept it really short and didnt comment much on the development on the game. For sure there wasn't enough development at the moment to show a whole nasty bad ass video like in the other presentation, so this could be the explanation for it. Now I know this was all staged, but at the same time, I think it backfired as a bitch slap to Microsoft when the presenter guy goes: "We can't wait to see what Solid Snake brings to the 360..." Then Kojima replies "But Tom, I did not say anything bout Snake" Then he smirks with a evil laugh... and turns away like a evil vampire Dracula. (Look at the video and tell me he didnt do this!!) Then the audience went in a awkward clapping after hearing "Raiden is Back"... ugh... I am happy that MGS next gen made it to 360 and a new title for both superb systems... but i dont know, this just felt kind of weird. or Is it just me?
Now the PSP presentation...
Now from the start, he uses a translator, gives a more detailed explanation of the game, says key words that captivate the audience like "This is the TRUE Sequel to the Metal Gear Franchise.", also added "I will be deeply involved in this development, I will be writing the story, and be very very deeply involved in creating this title (repeated multiple times), its not a side story its a main story". ect ect
He was more enthusiastic about this presentation and talked allot more when honestly he didn't need to, all he needed to say is "Thank you, here is the video, bye" and the audience would still clap and toss him all their moneys. He didn't need to say all that stuff he said because now... it makes me think, that the Raiden game its a piece of crap (like the old Raiden game...) for the 360/PS3 compared to the PSP version Peace Walker. That's the feeling I get after watching both his presentations, it could be possible the Raiden game is a more later development than the Peace Walker, but idk, this is what it felt after watching both presentations. What do you think? am I making stuff up (as usual!) or was this noticeable by you as well?
I sorta of noticed what you're talking about. I watched both live and I felt the PSP games presentation was dragged out, he didn't need to say all that.
As for the Raiden game when he presented at Microsoft, his line "but Tom I did not say anything about Solid Snake" was sooooooooo scripted. I'm sure that Snake will eventually make it to 360, there's no way that there would be a blunder like that lol.
At any rate, I'm excited to see the new Raiden game.. Peace Walker... not so much. But then again, I don't own a PSP.
I think the Raiden game is a genuine effort thought. I think Kojima is a genuine guy and he wouldn't just ship a shitty game to the 360, nor would he stand up there and present it at Microsoft's conference if it's going to be a crap game. Just my thoughts.
Hideo Kojima hates the 360 and always has. That's likely why Rising isn't an exclusive and therefore rather useless to Microsoft. All the hardcore MGS fans already have a PS3 for MGS4 and all the casual MGS fans couldn't give 2 shits about Raiden.
@njsykora
Holy balls fanboy much? Anyway I think it's imagined Kojima probably wouldn't take any shit from Konami if they tried to give him some because he could take his cryptic, money making ass elsewhere. So I'm sure he genuinely wanted the broaden the series horizons like twin snakes on the gamecube.

I watched all 3 pressconferences in succesion yesterday ( missed the live one form MS ) and then it really stood out :-) I thought oh yeah here he is again to anounce rising for PS3 as well... but then he starts going all crazy and stuff, showing Outer F*cking Heaven and 4 snakes at the same time, while screaming how THIS IS THE REAL SHITZ!!! and it just struck me that he was just laughing at MS for making such a big deal out of Rising while the PSP was gonna get the peace walker...
we'll see, I'll prolly get both, but if rising is on PS3 too, I'll be getting it there :-)
I'd say that the next-gen games are too much hard work for him... too many assets to build and too high an expectation of quality. He can make an awesome psp game without anyone bitching, and without breaking a sweat.
The raiden game is for money, the snake game is his real baby. I can live with that, the PSP game is the one that will need him the most anyway.
By the way, MGS2 was awesome, what is wrong ith you people?
@ flabzilla, if you read my post, you would noticed I did mentioned it was scripted, even so it was scripted, there was something not right about it.
Thats what everyone is sharing/feeling, and even on a front page blog thats just about reliving the moments with kojima's presentation, people have noticed it.
i saw everyone call mgs as metar gear solid. not one person got it right so it leads me to believe its a new game series with the same characters in a different plane of existence.
I don't think he was raggin' on the 360 game, I think the reason he kept assuring people Peace Walker was a "real" MGS game is because people usually write off these PSP franchise releases as non-essential side-stories, and he wants people to know this is the real deal.
Is it me or was the 360 teaser the shortest trailer Kojima has ever made for a game. Remember MGS4's premier trailer was like 30 minutes long. This was 5 seconds of Raiden's face, which was revealed last week.

I however, love Raiden.

Do MS not remember how that worked out last time?

LOL
I dont think there was any bitchslapping happening on the kojima speeches, its just the fanboys who are making a big deal out of it.
