I am very upset with the latest sony product coming out. It looks to me it was half way done, half way thought out, or just half brain the person who approved it. Many things could have been done to please the demand of the consumer. for 4 years the audience have asked sony for dual analog, Sony could have tossed a little touch screen, even if games werent going to support it, since you need access to web site and to PSN in order to download the games.
On my first crappy photoshop, you will notice Sony had more than enough extra space to add dual analog sticks. Why in the world did they decide to fill the space with those stupid surrounding circles, only Go(d)ogle knows, but they could have easily done this to please the demand for 4 years.
Now if they REALLY wanted to take abigger piece of the competition, especially now with the Zune3512 Xbox (might be) coming out sometime soon, they needed to take on the DS head on with technology. SO!
If you noticed why I placed the dual analog sticks abit more above the controllers, is because the way your thumbs are set up, if you have to bend them like an upside down L shape and reach further in, it will be very uncomfortable, now if they are placed close to the edge, specially more on the above section, you will have more control over the analogs and your thumb will get less tired. D-pad fits in perfectly as well as the right buttons, and select/start fits with no problem and can even add a sony logo + the PSN access button or return to home screen.
As you can see, sony could have worked things a bit better, may be for the PSP2 they will do a good job, but so far this PSPGo is half way done. I am not pleased and Im sure neither are many of you. I would prefer if Sony canceled the PSPGo launch, and add some of the modifications to make it worthy.
Because it just another redesign, not a complete overhaul. This isn't the PSP 2 it's the PSP slim(er).
If they wanted to they could have, not expensive to do.
Adding an extra analog stick would be a complete redesign. It would, most likely, mean that games made for PSP Go would not be compatible with older PSP models. Anyway I do agree that a PSP with two analog sticks would be much more appealing to someone like me who doesn't own a PSP.
A radically smaller PSP with only a slight shrink in screen size, and no more ridiculously useless UMD drive!? I'm sold!
Considering that they're removing so many useless and expensive components (seriously, the UMD drive was the worst idea in handhelds ever), the price should be the same if not cheaper than current PSPs.
The only thing about which I'm apprehensive in regards to this design is the potential to play homebrewed ROMs. I don't care if PSP games can't get cracked, I'll buy them; all I care about is everything up to PS1.
I remember those non-stickish controllers... I've been kind of spoiled by them, though. :( I tried playing Rayman 2 on the PS3 with just the D-pad and I wanted to kill myself.
The dual analog sticks would be appreciated, and since I don't own any PSPs at all, I wouldn't mind if they released a new line of games that were only compatible with the new system.
I'm still really looking forward to this.
Still do not want!
If i were to get a handheld...
I'ld still go with the Nintendo DS.
If Sony really is sticking with a 10 year plan for all of its stuff, I wouldn't expect the PSP2 until at least 6 years after the PSP came out (which would land it in 2010 or beyond). The PSone was in 94. The PS2 was 2000. The PS3 was 2006. It makes sense that the handhelds would follow a similar schedule.
