Well... no one has said it would outsell halo, but still very impressive sale to new ps3 comers. But due to so many people still playing the game, others are still trying to get a PS3 bundle (easier to find a needle in a haystack) and Walmart deal resulted in a 180% sales increase for PS3 (Worldwide First day sales of 1.5 million including bundles). Which is not bad indeed.
VGChartz stated that it has sold 1.5 million on day 1. Still not a 100% accurate number since the game is still selling like hot panties without the red spots so VGcharts cant put a total of how much it has sold so far, but this is what we have to count pinkies:
-Over 350,000 units were sold in Japan (including bundles) on Day 1
-over 400,000 units sold in the Americas on Day 1
-The 70,000 Metal Gear Solid 4 bundles supplied by Sony sold out immediately most retailers. It is expected that the hardware boost will be short-lived and PS3 sales will return to normal levels within the next couple of weeks.
-Many retailers have accused Sony of severely underestimating demand and suggest that they could have sold 2-3 times as many if the supply had been available.
Also, good news to those who couldn't get their hands on the MGS4 bundle. Joystick asked Sony if new shipments of the $500 bundle were coming and well, here is the scoop str8 from them:
"Joystiq writes: "We've received numerous "tips" concerning the Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB PlayStation3 bundle and just how darned scarce it's become in the wilds of retail. We checked with Sony to find out when more shipments of the "limited-edition" bundle will be sneaking back into North America.
Sony tells us that it's pleased with the strong interest in the bundle (system seller confirmed!) and is "working to ensure that additional shipments are provided to retailers." The company wouldn't provide specific inventory levels or give a restocking date, so if you're really aching for the bundle, you'd best keep hitting redial and pestering your local retailer"
So cheer up little cheerio. If you couldn't get one, there is still hope you might!
You know, since Square's been losing a lot of profit, and if Sony can ensure exclusivity, I suspect a FFVII-remake will push PS3 sales over the top. FTW!
er... I thought that they really weren't going to remake that game?
Also, does anyone know who's directing FFXIII? Because seriously, I've pretty much lost faith in the series after 12.
It is really great to see that everyone is finally getting the system though. Hopefully the future is bright for the huge black box of ultimate power.
you like the 360
I like the ps3
does one HAVE to be better than the other?
Seriously though, I can't speak for 360 as I don't own one to put forward an accurate opinion on its weakness but as a PS3 owner I can definitely say the lack of games makes me look at the 360 library... which is what Sony probably doesn't want at all but at least their system sales are starting to slowly create a rather large user base for them.
Now, lets start seeing Sony and MS throw games at us!! Wee!!
