I will preface this by saying Unstoppable Juggernaut is a dirty dirty man on XBL. If only we could have made that poor kid cry last night, it would have been awesome.

Thanks to this little puppy and a price drop, I grabbed this for about $13 (yay cheap gaming).

So most people didn't even give this game a look. I was interested but combined with lackluster reviews (IGN/GS 5/10) and a $60 price tag, I wasn't going to take that plunge. So now I have it and after playing, how do I feel?

Let's try to explain this game. It is a 1 on 1 shooter fighter hybrid. There are two bots fighting each other complete with life meters and supers (B.O.S.S mode). But unlike a standard fighter, you fly around in an arena shooting each other and emitting bullets much in the style of Ikaruga. Add in some different things and a crazy ass super (B.O.S.S mode) and you have Wartech.

First off the game is very bare bones. You've got story mode, the arcade story mode (changes dialogue and ending), online and practice. Yep.

So how is gameplay? Like said before this fighter/shooter is interesting. Each pilot has three attacks. A simple gun which shoots a stream of bullets, a second attack that typically homes or does something to the opponent, and a third barrage which can either spray out bullets or shield (or do massive damage up close). You can also dash to try to get close for melee attacks. You can't do it forever though. There's a charge gauge which limits attacks and comes into play as well.

The first two attacks don't use much charge if at all. The third eats a lot. You can also block bullets, but like a fighter you take block damage AND the charge gauge is decreased. Why is this immportant? For your supers.

Each person gets 2 B.O.S.S supers. First, you need more than 50% charge to do so. Second, the super lasts only as long as what you have in the charge gauge. What happens? You get an uber BOSS vehicle like a traditional shooter and get to go crazy on the opponent. Bullets EVERYWHERE. You cannot hide, make your time style.

Now you’re not completely helpless if the enemy goes B.O.S.S. You can use 50% of your charge gauge to wipe his bullets from the screen (especially if you’re getting pounded or about to die). You can also hurt the boss. Wiping his B.O.S.S life gauge means he can’t use it again or ends the B.O.S.S. mode.

Finally you get a last stand type called Vanish Mode. When you have no life left, one more hit will do you in. However if you have a B.O.S.S stock left, you can enter Final B.O.S.S mode and hope to turn the tide.

All in all, this game is unlike anything I have played before and I’m enjoying it.
