I'm Josh, and this is my assuredly amazing blog that everyone should read. I'm the proud owner of both a PS3 and an Xbox 360, along with a broken PSP 3000. I also do some PC gaming but that mostly consists of buying games on steam that I don't have the capability of actually playing. My favorite thing to do on this blog is write reviews, but I also have the occasional rant. Enjoy Bitches.

There is just something about horror games that really bring people together. When I think about the best moments I've ever had playing games with my friends (Keep in mind i'm 18 and grew up with a genesis/PS1) I always go back to resident evil. It was around the age of 12 that I met Mariano, my cohort in the horror genre. We played everything together. The Gamecube was our platform of choice at the time and we started out with multiple playthroughs of Resident Evil 4. Every day after school and every weekend I would head to his house to watch him play through it. Equipped with the strategy guide I would help my friend find all the hidden items and help him through all the bosses. We soon finished the game but that didn't stop our fun, multiple playthroughs were a necessity. We soon mixed it up and the most fun we had was going through a knife/grenade only run.
Don't turn your back to the enemy idiot
Of course the fun didn't stop with Resident evil 4. We soon stopped by our local Gamestop and came out with 2 copies of Resident Evil Zero. We then had a race to see who could beat the game first. It was a head to head battle as we played with two TV's side by side and ran through the game helping each other out when we got stuck and quickly progressing. It was 5 hours later when we both arrived at the last boss within seconds of each other. It was a mad rush to see who could finish of the final boss first. As it happened, he beat me by only about 5 seconds. Together we sat there and watch the ending credits pantomime each other as Billy said his idiotic catchphrase and ended the game on a whimper.
Billy amps up the cheese factor
After that I watched him play through every resident evil available on the Gamecube: REmake, 2, and 3. Of course our fun didn't stop there. It wasn't long before we became Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 fiends. That was our new drug and we played it everyday for months. Taking the time to unlock every character and get over 90% of the capsules. We soon came up with a De-facto battle of SSJ4 Goku vs. Vegeta. We would both start the match by charging and going Super Saiyan 4 before officially starting the fight. We both won and lost frequently but I will concede that he was the better player. I can tell you that I destroyed my Dual-shocks analog sticks by literally rubbing of the material of of them furiously trying to win projectile battles. To this day Budokai 3 remains one of my favorite games of all time.
To me, this was the only fighting game to play
Our last obsession was Phantasy Star Online Ep. 1 & 2 Plus. We played that game split-screen for hours on end. I was always the elf magician and he was alway the Sword wielding human. We must have put 100's of hours into the game making our way through the dungeons. We almost exclusively played Episode 1, but we never finished the last area. Unfortunately it was during this time that I moved away, and I now only communicate occasionally on Facebook with my old friend Mariano.
The definition of obsession
One last short story, one of my best friends who I still play with today I met during my time with Mariano. At the time, I didn't hang out with him to much but in recent years we have become very close friends. It wasn't long ago that me and him made a pact to play every silent hill game together, starting with homecoming. Around once a month he comes to my house to play a little bit of Silent Hill. Since we started the pact we have beaten homecoming and our currently making our way through Shattered Memories. Here's to hoping downpour will keep the dream alive.
My first Silent Hill and a great game to play with others in the room
Now I play almost all my games online in some capacity. The current gen really is a great time for Co-op gaming. Nazi Zombies and Horde mode have provided me some great LOL moments and cemented for me how rewarding playing with others can be. It's almost hard for me to remember how I survived before the advent of party chat and widespread online console gaming. As much as I will always enjoy single player games, it seems like playing with friends is the best way to enjoy gaming as a whole.
