PS3 Controller Add-On, A Must Have!
Corak | 7:31 PM on 06.03.2008 23 comments

Well after about a week of waiting for Amazon.com to proceure this for me it finally showed up today and was waiting for me when I got home from work. What is it you might ask? It is quite possibly the best $9.99 you'll spend if you don't like the lower triggers on the PS3 controller.

They are 2 little plastic pieces that attach, quite well I might add, to the L2 and R2 buttons. They are made by a company called Messiah Entertainment, the site I'll list at the end of this blog for those interested. The small L shape of the attachments make it much easier to use those bottom 2 triggers.

I was a little apprehensive when I ordered it not really knowing how they would attach, I was thinking tape or something, but they snap on very well, and haven't seemed like they are going to come off. I've been playing GTA4 for about an hour now, and using the triggers for driving wasn't my favorite thing to do, but now its much much easier. I haven't got to try them with any other game yet, but if this trial run was any hint it seems like they will never come off my dual shock 3. As a bonus, and to justify spending $9.99 for a dollars worth of plastic, they included a metal piece that slips over the top of the controller.

It doesn't do anything really but add a little flare to your controller. It makes the start, select, and PS button recessed, but they are still accessible and take a little getting used to.

Overall I think its definatly worth the money if you don't like the lower triggers on the PS3's controller. Also I'd like to thank Brainderailment for originally posting the website picture of these that got me interested.

I'm interested, just not $10 interested.

I've seen these everywhere, and I must be an idiot, because I can't figure out exactly HOW that works. Okay, after investigating, I guess there are new L2/R2 buttons that attach on top of the existing ones?
Crunshii's Destructoid Blog
interesting. not sure if I would get it yet but not so bad for 10$
Corak's Destructoid Blog
Yup they attach over the existing buttons

I don't even have a problem with the original L2/R2 buttons.

...Then you're not human.

Sadly, I don't know if I like the lowered buttons because I haven't played my PS3 enough to find out. MGS 4 will change all that though. Rumble FTW.

I already hate the triggers. Why would I want to make them more triggery.

Well I never said I was human (or male) in the first place, so ya.

A pair of these came with an issue of PSU or something a little while ago...
They work awesome for driving games like Gran Turismo and stuff like that

Question: Do you have to use that silver cover for the middle of the controller or is that optional?
Too Much Coffee Man's Destructoid Blog
i like the triggers

the metal cover is an eye sore imo though.
animateria's Destructoid Blog
I would be interested if it was $5, minus the silly metal cover.

Those R2 and L2 triggers are complete butt. These may come in handy. Too pricey though. And screw that metal cover.
brainderailment's Destructoid Blog
YW, now I have to go buy them too.

^What? you people are crazy^ $10 is not much money!

I'm with daedhead, I'd like them but $10 seems a little excessive for two little nubs of plastic. I do hate watching a movie for half an hour and all of a sudden a menu pops up because the PS3 controller is laying flat on something.

I will have to see how much they are in the UK, but I am extremely tempted.

Also to santa, the metal cover is optional.

You paid 10 dollars for those?

I got a set of those in England for £2.50.
You got ripped off.
Also, I got sick of using them after a while, I don't know why, they just started to feel wrong.
I just keep them in the SD card flap on my PS3.
Arttemis's Destructoid Blog
I didn't realize there was even an issue with the standard shoulder triggers; I'm perfectly content with the Dual Shock 3's layout.

Yup they attach over the existing buttons .A brief introduction. Nantong FRP Products frp grating, Ltd is an entity professionalized in producing and selling FRP grids
