Yahoo! News is reporting that Monday a gamer actually did a good (albeit violent) act. A 12 year old Maryland boy heard his mother being attacked by a fellow resident of the boarding home they all lived in, and promptly "took a knife and swung at the man." He slashed the man's throat, and the assailant died earlier today. "The boy said he had been playing a video game" when the attack happened, though the game was not specifically revealed.
Now, I see this as having both negatives and positives. Obviously the negative is that
deranged journalists will use this to their advantage, saying that gamers are being trained to kill. The good news is that though this kid did take another life, he was merely defending his mom, and for that I consider him to be nothing less than a hero. And maybe had the child not been exposed to video games he wouldn't have had the bravery to face off against the "bad guy".
I just read that story. I'm kinda on the fence about this one. Yeah the guy was attacking his mom, but it's still pretty crazy what the kid did.
Sorry, I had to be the first to say that Assassin's Creed sucked.
