So, as some of you may or may not be aware of, I started writing for MEGATONik.com in January. Megatonik is made up of primarily older Destructoid community members that through some ways or another, fallen out with the Toid. Well, there's not a huge community over there, and for the most part we were just writing articles for the other staff members to comment on. I have been busy with things for the past couple of days, AND the past couple of days have been slow news days so I haven't posted anything on Megatonik.com for a while.
Now, don't get me wrong and think that I quit from there just to make DToid happy. Earlier today this was posted on the staff forums by lawl, one of the founders.
"The last post was 2 DAYS AGO and I was the only one who posted that day.
What are you guys doing? Traffic is fucking abysmal.
New rule is in effect: EVERY WRITER MUST MAKE AT LEAST ONE POST PER DAY and unless you have special circumstances (send me an email or something), this is mandatory.
Also, if you guys follow this, we'll do our best to get you as many free games as possible. We absolutely HAVE TO get traffic up again ASAP."
Yeah, funny stuff. So for the past 45 minutes I wrote my reply, which came out to be something like this.
"Haha, its been fun guys, really it has, but I think this is about as far as we go together. But since I want yall to succeed, even if I'm not a part of it, I will try to leave you with some things to improve upon.
1. I think the fact that yall are so young (dont have your own transportation) puts a damper on things. It's hard to cover events when you have to ask Mommy or Daddy for a ride.
2. Don't ban a community member just because they disagree with you when you only have about 10 active community members.
3. I don't know what happened with Arrogantics, but it looks like MEGATONik is going the same way that did. You probably should have tried to learn from your mistakes the first time.
4. Hating Destructoid probably wasn't the best idea. In the gaming journalism industry it's a good idea to try not to burn bridges if you can help it.
5. When the community figured out the "ARG" as quickly as they did, flat out denying it was fucking stupid.
6. I seriously laughed when you brought up the idea that we should ask Gerstmann to change his site's name. Hilarious.
7. When lawl, Cortez, backflip, and zizzy don't post very often, dont try to bully us lowly "Writers" into doing all of your work for you. The best bosses lead by example.
8. When we do write stuff, don't piss on us by telling us what we wrote about isn't important enough. Video games are video games, and certain video games should not be neglected just because they're not being made by huge developers.
9. I don't know why you tried to get the "LOL" article Dugg. Destructoid posted an article about that in February. LOL indeed.
Thats about all I can think of for now. If you would, please take my email off the tips forwarder so I will quit getting all that spam that we get. That would be great.
Hugs and kisses,
Coonskin05"
UPDATE:
Lulz.
I love you dude.
I salute you.
For the record, SLOK-y was banned because he resorted to personal childish attacks and slams, not mild or even heated disagreements. I do bring out the best in people I suppose.
Sorry it had to end this way man. Good luck on any future ventures.
Sorta sounds like MT fell off sadly.
Now come on, group hug.
ohhhh drama that comes out of starting a community out of dtoid rebels
sooooo glad to not be a part of it
