Destructoid - Conrad Zimmerman's Community Blog

About Me
I am the Deputy News Editor at Destructoid. I write about videogames for a living. That last sentence is as awesome as it sounds, though not always in the ways you might think.

I also play host to Destructoid's live streaming satellite studio, Couchtoid. From there, we broadcast Backlog, an attempt to work through my stack of old games one hour at a time (Weeknights, 10pm Pacific) and Saturday Morning Hangover where Dtoid writer Jordan Devore and the always lovely ImpossiblePlant play often painful games for your amusement (Saturdays, 10am Pacific).

I'm fond of all types of gaming, either on a screen or a tabletop. In terms of video games, my interests vary wildly from platformers (2D preferred) to RPGs and the occasional FPS. The greatest game of all time is Mega Man 2 and any suggestion otherwise will be met with swift vengeance.

About Rodney Dangerfield:

The mere inclusion of Rodney Dangerfield can vastly improve anything. Films, music, toasters, anything. In particular, the force of Rodney Dangerfield could elevate video games to the level in which they are accepted by the mainstream as a true art form, bringing together people of all races, creeds and tax brackets in peace and harmony.

RIP Rodney.

Video Blog #4 - The Zapper
Conrad Zimmerman | 12:11 PM on 05.26.2009 13 comments

I can't say exactly why it popped into my head when I was trying to decide how to title this video blog, but calling it The Zapper made my brain leap to The Shocker. If there were a sexual maneuver called "The Zapper," what do you suppose that would be?

Anyway, enjoy some semi-coherent ramblings from yours truly as I touch on a couple of viewer questions, talk about the classic NES light gun and go a little bit into what I want from E3.

As always, your comments, questions and feedback are appreciated. Links to some of the things I mention are below.

- Console General T-Shirt
- The Robot Man
- Heavy Rain

Dude I get burned out all the time. Usually just end up not playing games for a while but then I get back into it.

1UP Shirts is from Artemus on Destructoid. Haha Conrad you silly bear.

Nice v-blog, as usual. Now people can bow and worship a video, instead of a makeshift altar based off your avatar (Hey Arnold! anyone?).

Yeah, I'd rather see more video stuff from this E3. Tons more. And more Live Blogging with a typed recap after the fact. Cause I usually miss the Live Blogging and don't like reading through it again.

Nice video Conrad.

A casual-gaming friend of mine came back with a nice bounty from a garage sale - three NESs, about 10 great games for the system, and two Zappers, one of them gray. It just felt so good to play with that gun; even just holding it was nice, compared to the sub-par Wii Zapper. Still didn't change the fact that I'm horrible at Duck Hunt, but I totally agree with you.

I do appreciate your answer to my magazine thing that I asked so long ago. I don't mind the whole everything going online thing, if it means less ads and more real content, I don't mind.

Also, Zappers are awesome, I will agree on that.

@Dexter
You may want to get some anti-virus software and see if it allows you to update, then scan(AVG is free). That youtube error has been occurring recently to people's PCs that have become infected with the latest Trojan going around. If that's the case, PM me when the forums are up and I can give you a link that fixes it.

destructoid itself is proof that the internet is far superior to magazines. also how are you enjoying culdcept? it took a friend of mine plenty of talking to convince me to pick it up but i actually had a lot of fun with that piece of crap.
