You're a good man Conrad Zimmerman.
Personally, as much as I would have liked Duke Nukem Forever to come out, seeing it come out wouldn't be all that great. With all the work that seemingly went into putting the game together, it wouldn't be able to meet today's standards, in the end, no one would be able to enjoy it. It may be because after all these years, gamers everywhere have spent poking fun at the game. The act of knowing it would ever come out would blow everyone's mind, more than likely in a bad way.
That's just me personally, I prefer poking fun at it rather than hope for seeing it come out. Also, I haven't seen any Playboy-related in years, so I don't know how to act about the editorials in it. Nice to know what goes on in your mind, Mr. Zimmerman.
But while on the subject of magazines, I want to ask, what is you view on the magazine media today, preferably gaming magazines? Like 'em, hate 'em, and do you see them going downhill to the point that all gaming news will have to be accessed by the interwebs, that sort of thing? I mean, GameInformer is the only gaming magazine I hear of nowadays and I hardly hear of any other such magazines.
Is there really any worthwhile print media left to read? It seems most things have to rely on pandering and selling out ad space and articles as much as possible just to stay afloat now.
You're a source of inspiration to me. Also, great video blog series!
I really don't think magazines are dead. Even though I spend a shitload of time on Dtoid hearing about games, GI still has great, in depth and exclusive content that you can't get anywhere on the internet. I also get Popular Science, which is great in it's own right.
Yeah, the color based guidance on Mirror's Edge breaks down at a few points. When its good its good. When its bad, you can feel a sufficiently lost (aside from the B/O "look here!" button).
I can say there's an interesting point in one of the real late chapters where they throw out the guidance and open up the game to an in-campaign non-combat puzzle solve for a little bit. I found that to be an "oh wow" moment for me. Though, granted, I dug the game overall up to that point. I'd say its worth a finish, but there is some frustration to bear with to get there.
I like what you do with your hands.
I'm going to blame the goatee for you always looking pissed off. ;)
Sad to hear that Playboy's editorial content has dropped in quality so drastically.
I really enjoyed the video; however, I found the hands a bit distracting once again. Also, are you a big fan of green? That's three green shirts in a row.
Dude, I couldn't stand Mirror's Edge until I played recently after a long hiatus. I managed to enjoy it somehow and completing the second last chapter last night was pretty satisfying. Also, you lucked out on the Bioshock book, mine got rained on. Now my book about Rapture actually looks like it came from Rapture.
As a longtime Playboy subscriber, I also read it for the articles at this point. As I got older, the fake girls just aren't as appealing. As for the editorial content, the magazine went through an overhaul just a few months ago when Christine left as CEO, and the mag got much thinner. Money isn't rolling in with the print advertising and since Ms. Hefner left in January they made more cuts. So yes, there are not as many articles anymore. However, this month was out of the ordinary on quality. I agree that it was a little thin, don't judge the whole publication on just one month though. Even when there was more content, the magazine varied in quality. It still is a strong read the majority of the time. Unfortunately, with the trend in print journalism circulation going steeply down, who knows how long they can keep it up.
Dude, you should've saved the Playboy thing for a RetRose Tinted.
On Mirror's Edge, it's either your thing, or it's not. Sounds like for you, it's not.
Loving these video blogs. Keep them coming!
