RetRose Tinted: Corrective Lenses Competition

Do you have powerful memories of playing video games? Want an opportunity to win some cool Dtoid merch? Enter the RetRose Tinted Corrective Lenses cBlog Competition!

All you have to do to enter is write a cBlog post detailing one of your favorite retrogaming memories during the month of March. Our crack team of experts will then judge the entries and I'll cough up my hard-earned cash to give prizes to three winners. Complete competition rules after this message:

Contest Rules
- One entry per participant.

- Entries will be accepted from 12am PST on March 1st until 11:59pm on March 31st.

- Entries must contain at least one image and link back to this post.

- Participants must PM me with a link to their entry; I will not be held responsible for missed posts.

- Entries will be judged by a panel based on the following criteria:
1. Entertainment Value: You story can be funny, or heartwarming or anything you like but it must entertain the judges.
2. Writing Skill: Use proper grammar and punctuation. Failing to do so will not outright disqualify you but poorly written posts are at a considerable disadvantage.

- Winners will be announced on April 3rd.

Prizes

First Prize: A T-shirt of winner's choice from the Destructoid store.

Second and Third Prize: A Destructoid beanie

Runners-up (3): A Destructoid sticker pack.

I'm no corporate whore. I'll continue writing retro articles without selling out to "the man".

Seriously though, I like this idea. I probably won't be entering as most of my articles seem to hover around 700-800 words but it'll be interesting to see what other people write about though.

@Shipero - Yeah, sure. I see how it is.

The reason for the word limit is simply because I don't have any idea how many entries we might get, so 500 should be enough for a short story.

A magazine I was freelancing for once told me to do a full restaurant review in 300 words. I can't write about the process of tying my shoes in that few, so I feel your pain.

about me

I write for Destructoid, primarily reviews and recurring columns. I'm probably best known for RetRose Tinted, a series which I began in the Community Blogs and ran for six months before joining the site staff and taking it to the front page. I also contribute to An RPG Draws Near and the recently minted Sexy Time! column as well as serve up a weekly collection of the best deals on games (and completely gratuitous photos of women) in Discountoid.

I'm fond of all types of gaming, either on a screen or a tabletop. In terms of video games, my interests vary wildly from platformers (2D preferred) to RPGs and the occasional FPS. The greatest game of all time is Mega Man 2 and any suggestion otherwise will be met with swift vengeance.
