About Me
I am the Deputy News Editor at Destructoid. I write about videogames for a living. That last sentence is as awesome as it sounds, though not always in the ways you might think.

I also play host to Destructoid's live streaming satellite studio, Couchtoid. From there, we broadcast Backlog, an attempt to work through my stack of old games one hour at a time (Weeknights, 10pm Pacific) and Saturday Morning Hangover where Dtoid writer Jordan Devore and the always lovely ImpossiblePlant play often painful games for your amusement (Saturdays, 10am Pacific).

I'm fond of all types of gaming, either on a screen or a tabletop. In terms of video games, my interests vary wildly from platformers (2D preferred) to RPGs and the occasional FPS. The greatest game of all time is Mega Man 2 and any suggestion otherwise will be met with swift vengeance.

About Rodney Dangerfield:

The mere inclusion of Rodney Dangerfield can vastly improve anything. Films, music, toasters, anything. In particular, the force of Rodney Dangerfield could elevate video games to the level in which they are accepted by the mainstream as a true art form, bringing together people of all races, creeds and tax brackets in peace and harmony.

RIP Rodney.

I'm Too Lazy To Figure Out How To Give You A Dreamcast CONTEST - LAST 24 HOURS!
Conrad Zimmerman | 11:10 PM on 06.22.2008 17 comments

The end is nigh! If you want to win a Dreamcast from me, you're going to have to tell me the best way to give one to a fellow Dtoider. Time's running out! Full contest rules repeated below.

I scored two Dreamcast consoles today when a deal I simply couldn't pass up dropped into my lap. Being the magnanimous soul that I am, I'm going to give them away on Destructoid. The problem? I'm both too busy and too lazy to come up with a good contest idea.

So, here's the deal: I'm going to give one of the Dreamcasts to the person who comes up with what I consider to be the best contest idea. Then, that contest will be run to give away the second unit.

All you have to do to enter is come up with a contest that can be run here in the CBlogs. It can be anything you like. You might want to keep in mind the kinds of contests I like to run by checking out the other ones I've done (here and here) and also keep in mind that the contest probably shouldn't run more than a week or two since you all have depressingly short attention spans.

The prize is the console with audio/video and power cables only. I have no controllers.

You have until I post the CBlog Recap on Monday, June 23rd to enter by posting a comment in this blog (or in one of the reminder posts to come later this week). Enter as often as you like, since only the best entry will be accepted. Oh, and US residents only, unless you don't mind chipping in for some shipping (International is a bit rich for my blood these days, I'm afraid).

Good Luck!

If it's a Dreamcast we get, then it's the Dreamcast the next contest should be about.

Nintendo is usually the company people think about when we think about innovation in gaming, and usually for good reason. But personally, I don't think anything Nintendo has come up with has as much innovation as the Dreamcast did when it was first released. The Dreamcast pretty much standardized everything that we demand in gaming today. The actual contest should be a blog about what the blogger thinks is the most important thing the Dreamcast gave us.

It has to be something that either all of our current-gen consoles have, or at least two out of the three, i.e. online play, web browsing, downloadable content, etc. Help us realize why the Dreamcast is the greatest console that we've ever gotten (well, in my opinion, anyway).

I know I'd love to win one of the two that you got your hands on --- I sold mine a while back, and I've never regretted getting rid of something video game-related more since I started playing games 20 years ago.

the contest could be for people to build a replica of the dreamcast out of absolutely anything they want. take a picture of it and post it in the c-blogs. It can be any size, colour, and whatever you want to put on it or on it. and it should be nice and creative.

:)

The contest should be to list off the 5 most original things about the Dreamcast. Answers can be as simple as the innovative games, or as detailed as saying it was the first home console to have integrated online play right out of the box. Also, have people explain their reasoning.

A blog detailing why the DC failed. Some examples would be timing, price, useless features (whatever that little tamagotchi-esque/memory card thing was).

@Manta: Fail. The dreamcast succeeded far more than you ever will.

Also, I already entered. I'm pumped, hope you liked my idea (and if you didn't, I hope I can appease the contest you select, and if not then at least this was fun!)

The only reason the DC failed is because it didn't have a dvd player.

People go onto ebay and sell something utterly ridiculous, like a trip to another dimension. The person whose bid stays up the longest without being took down wins.

Uhh. Iono. How about one of those MP3's that has assortments of different music, but with dreamcast game music? Its like, 15 seconds of audio from the song, then switches drastically to another song. Have them guess, whoever guesses the most correctly wins. If more then one person gets all of them, or in the case of a tie, have them sing a song about their favorite dreamcast game.

have a photoshopping contest, showing the best use of a dreamcast, since they no longer are made.

ex. a holder for your AOL demo disc.

You should hold a Dreamcast Cake Bake-Off, to see who can bake the best dreamcast themed cake. The contest participants have to bake the cake, take pictures of it, and then submit the pictures for review.

They do not have to simply bake a cake that looks like a Dreamcast. They can get creative and bake a cake with a theme of their favorite dreamcast game or accessory. Creativity here is the key.

Below is an example of a cake that could submitted for this contest.
