So, here it is, the typical 'last year' review and 'upcoming' resolutions post!

Last year has really been a big life changer for me, given that i am only 18, and in reality i have not been alive for a great deal of time (roughly 6,935 days.. roughly) but so much has changed this year. I started working a full time position in a very promising career, i am now settled down with a my beautiful partner and are expecting a sprog late June of this year! And of course, with work comes money and with money comes countless games in which i will never ever have time to play but i buy them just because they are on deal! Steam, GOG, Gamers gate... oh damn you!

Getting away from that real life mushy crap, lets go straight into my Top 3 games of this year, i don't think i have played enough games for long enough to do a Top 10 let alone a Top 5!

3. Diablo 3

Now, some may look at my choice and think what the hell are you thinking, Diablo 3 was a shambles compared to its predecessors, but i thoroughly enjoying playing D3. Diablo 3 allowed me to get in touch with the 2.5d hack and slash scene, given that the scene is not particularly exploding at the moment but there are some! I remember waking up at 5am at the weekends back when i was still at primary school, loading up Diablo 2 and smashing into it for many hours and Diablo 3 allowed me to regain some of that feelings that i got when playing Diablo 2.

Diablo 3 did have a lot of its flaws, but if you can look past them then the game does provide a fun experience and re-playability, or if you really don't want to, try Torchlight... haha.

2. Chivalry: Medieval Warfare

Oh Chivalry, how i love thee! Given that i have only sank 23 hours of game play into Chivalry, that is simply down to not having to play it. If i had a lot more spare time, i think very many of my hours will be soaked into Chivalry: Medieval Warfare!

[/i]With the recent influx of players due to the steam sales, my claymore has never been more blood ridden! But honestly, Chivalry is just an all round fun game to play, good mechanics, good sport between players (most of the time) and it is always fun to don the claymore and yell across the microphone at your loudest 'THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!!'. [/i]

1. Dishonored

Dishonored is my game of the year, probably because i have forgotten about all the other games i have played this year, but if one was to come to mind Dishonored would definitely be up there! Dishonored's steam-punk setting and gritty game play really is what puts it in number 1. After purchasing Dishonored i continued to play the game for 11 hours straight one Friday night, nearing completion of the game, i could not put the game down. It would be play, smoke, coffee, play. On repeat for 11 hours... good times! Dishonored offered so many different ways to play out the game that it kept me going, i myself was going for the stealth approach in which the mechanics worked greatly, but when things went wrong and you had to whip out the pistol and blades, the game still played out amazingly! Bethesda really done a great job on this one, and if i am honest i would love to see some sort of sequel/prequel to this!

There is my list, now bare in mind that i have a memory like a sieve and there are probably many games that deserve these spots, buuuut for the life of me i cannot remember what i have this year, it has all gone so fast!

Thanks for reading this far if you have, also if anybody is interest, i have an Assassin's Creed 3 giveaway and the name is due to be drawn tomorrow morning! Check it out and if interest, leave a comment on that post!

Thanks folks, have a great day!

Here comes yet another giveaway to add to the Christmas giving spirit at this time of the year.

In this giveaway i will be handing out a copy of... dun dun duuun!

Yep, so this time i will be giving away a lovely copy of Assassins Creed 3, be aware that this is just a digital download code and i will not be dispatching a boxed version to some dark corner of the world in which it would cost my whole wallet to send it to you :) Damn i really am sharing the Christmas spirit there eh?

In all honesty, i am yet to play Assassin's Creed 3. I prefer to have a boxed version of the game holding up a lovely space on my shelves with the rest of the collection, however as you can imagine it does cause some when all of the shelves are taken up by games that you would probably never play again but keep them there just to not have a gap.

(Definitely not my collection, however i do have a spare room in which i can create some sort of fort out of games... don't know of the everybody would agree on that one!)

I am actually out of sync with the Assassin's Creed games, i really need to go back and play the previous two as i think the last one i finished was Assassin's Creed 2. That will have to be a collection i buy once i can invest the cash into it.

Have a look at the Review for Assassin's Creed 3, courtesy of Conrad Zimmerman!

'This is a blog from a fair few weeks ago, however was un published simply due to the fact i had limited motivation and time to finish it. I do apologize :) haha naat!'

So, today while at the end of work it had calmed down a little bit and i decided i shall play with my newly purchased iPhone, so i am browsing the app store in light of finding something nice to waste my day away with. I stumbled upon a lovely little game called 'Plague Inc.' So i spent roughly 10 minutes on my first play of the game, just a quick boot up, see how it was and then quickly threw it to the back of my mind once business picked up again. All is good and well, however when i got home from work today, i booted up Halo 4, played one game and then picked up the iPhone again. I booted Plague Inc. once again, and ended up sitting on my arse playing it for around 3 hours... 3 hours sitting playing a silly iPhone game which i paid less that what you would pay for a normal Mars Bar in most shops today.

Now, getting away from my little poorly described story of today's happenings, it actually got me thinking about the possibilities and potential that these smart phones and tablets could provide us in the coming years. Now i wonder how many of these walls of texts are already floating around the internet telling us that the next generation of gaming and business will be based solely from these new powerhouses that we can harness simply from our trouser pocket. These phones and tablets are only going to get smaller, (or sometimes bigger; Samsung Note II, that thing is like a brick, you will need to take your trailer with you if you want to take it out.) more powerful and generally going to be far more useful in times to comes. I mean if you take a smart phone and trawl through the OS's preferred application market, you will find numerous applications which can do the strangest of operations. You can get anything from a automated stock taking app, to a app which makes farting noises, both provide you with some sort of use, be it making farting noises next to your friends and blaming it on them. The potential uses for Smart Phones/Tablets are endless, there will always be new ideas and there will always be people who are willing to transpose these into code and make an app out of their idea.

Potential in the games market
Now, i can almost guarantee (somebody will fault me on that) that the majority of smart phones found in the general users pockets will have at least one mindless game downloaded. I am going to choose the game which has taken the whole portable gaming by storm.. Angry Birds.

Angry Birds is probably one of the most popular and most played games to have emerged in recent years, now i am just hazarding a guess with that statement however i would like to think that Angry Birds has become one of the most well known and played games around at the moment. You can purchase anything from Plush toys to Tee-shirts and lunchboxes, i mean for a game that only costs 69 pence on the app store (IOS) they have done not too bad at all! Have a look at some of the numbers below ;

As of December 2010 Angry Birds had 12,000,000+ paid downloads, at £0.69 per download that comes to £8,280,000, you know for a game that took only 9 months to develop, that is a hefty amount of return for Rovio.

I don't think anybody can anticipate for a game of such simplicity to have escalated to such a level that it was the third best selling paid download game, behind Pacman and Tetris (IOS Based), now have a look at this infographic, a story of psychology, sociology and addiction ; The Global Appeal of "Angry Birds". Damn, people put a lot of research into such trivial things, however if they did not do it then i could not write such ramblings! The statistic which shocked me on that page is the time played on angry birds ;

In one day, two hundred million minutes of angry birds are played, which equals to 380 years of time played, In a single day! In every hour, 16 years worth of time is spent playing Angry birds. Truly unbelievable.

Happy Monday people, or should i say, i hope everybody was able to slog through the first working/school day of the week and are all in the highest of hopes that the rest of the week will shoot by in the blink of an eye. It never, ever works that way, however keep your hopes up!

Anyway, upwards and onward to the topic of conversation.

Mental block, and how do you get those productive juices not flowing?

So, as my question clearly states above, how do YOU get those mental productive juices flowing? How do you inspire yourself to transfer your thought and feelings into or onto whichever type of mind dumping method you prefer? Be it drawing, writing, blogging, or just whatever you want.

I would like to say that i have a great method for this, however i do not. And the point of this blog is for advice. Advice on how i may get my productive juices flowing.

I wake up in the morning, and think about what i am going to write about when i get home from work.I sit in work, and try and plan the layout of what i am going to write about. On my way home from work, sitting in traffic. I pick my brain to find crucial points of my subject and questions to pose to the readers.

But.. when i get home, and finally boot up my computer and load up my preferred method of mind dumping. I go blank, or i go relatively stiff when it comes to putting it down. I repeatedly re-write parts of a blog in which i think will go down well will a reader, but following that initial paragraph up with something just as interesting is just mind boggling.

This may be somewhat of a small post, however... I simply pose the question to you, the person who has taken time out of your day, to read something that i have produced, what inspired you to produce something?

What makes your brain tick?
