About Me
I guess I'll start with the basics: I'm 22, and about a semester away from graduating from college. I've been a big gamer ever since I touched a controller. (was the NES and Super Mario Bros. for the record...)

I currently work at Target in the electronics department.(Sorry, we still don't have any Wii's in stock)Also, I consider myself to be pretty friendly, so feel free to drop a comment or friend me if you feel like it.

As for gaming, I actually like a wide range of genres, but I often consider my most favorite to be RPG's or Action/Adventure/Shooters. My non-gaming interests include movies, music and sports.

Systems I currently own:
Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 2, Gamecube, Nintendo DS, Gameboy (SP, Micro) and Sega Dreamcast.

Systems I've owned at one time:
NES, Sega Genesis, Sega Gamegear, Nintendo 64, Playstation One

My entire Game Collection:

Ok, so this is my first blog post EVAR. I've been a bit of a lurker since I've been frequenting dtoid from about a year ago, but I've finally decided to post because it seems like something all the cool kids like to do around here. (and God has been bothering me constantly, it's like he's some kind of all seeing/knowing being or something.) Anyways, let me start off by telling you guys a bit about me since I plan on, you know, blogging more often and generally will be around here and there.

Um, so you can find some stuff about me over to the right. Some additional things I'd just like to throw out quickly is that I'm male, (big surprise, right?) I consider myself to have an awesome sense of humor, I'm from Michigan, (missed LarkOhiya's NARP unfortunately.....sad face) I really like hockey, (hence my Xbox Live Gamertag) and I'm apparently a big fan of adding sarcastic/additional comments in parenthesis near the end of sentences.(O RLY?)

Gaming-wise, I can really play anything, but my true love is probably RPG's. Some of my fave RPG's are Final Fantasy VII (actually NOT my first RPG), Grandia II (Was my first RPG), the Pokemon series, the Golden Sun Series, (make a new one Camelot!!!) and the Fire Emblem series, although I haven't played Radiant Dawn (Wii) or the Sacred Stones (GBA) yet, however I do own both. Oh and finally, I promise not to post any blogs about Smash Bros. Brawl (ok, maybe one or two...) even though I am extremely excited for it.

Phew, now that that is out of the way, Let me get to the main event. The title of my topic relates to video games (this is a gaming blog after all...) even though I'm sure some of you were thinking about something else....... so shame on you. So.....do you remember your first video game moment? Was it a happy experience? Did you get hooked after your first time playing, or did it happen later?

For me, my first gaming moment (at least in memory) was from this gem:

Yeah I'm sure it was a lot of peoples first gaming moment, but it was still special to me. I was about 4 or 5 when me and my brother got this thing called a Nintendo Entertainment System for Christmas. While my older brother played it first, (the jerk pushed me out of the way....I think.) I still sat there in amazement just watching this new experience. When it was finally my turn after my brother got bored, I'm sure there was a big stupid grin on my face when I picked up the controller. World 1-1 started up........and I vividly remember getting owned by the very first goomba.

You'd think I'd throw down the controller and give up. But from that moment, I think somewhere inside me I knew I'd be a gamer for years and years to come. I kept trying and eventually beat the first level. I'd go on to play Mario quite a bit over the following months and even years. However I don't think I ever beat SMB when I was younger, although I do remember getting to the last World.

Well, to the few of you that read through all that, let me turn things over to you. What was your first gaming moment like?

Yeah, I remember my first time......it was downtown, walking home from school one day. A nice man in a van offered me some candy and........

Oh, wait. My first time gaming? >_>

I actually remember playing Pac-Man on the Atari while at Preschool one day. I also remember having no idea how to win. I actually never knew that you had to eat all the pellets to advance until I was like, 12.

Nice to meet you. My first time gaming? I'm not sure. It might have been Radar Rat Race for the Commodore VIC=20. Or Sea Wolf, with the dual paddle controllers. I was three, and the VIC=20 was a half console, half computer box that was underpowered even at the time of its release. My Dad would type up games and save them on the cassette drive, for us to play, which was pretty cool. I learned to type at the age of three or four to call up these games.

Honestly, I think I remember playing Wolfenstein 3D on DOS as my very first video game. Look at that Jack Thompson, my very first game ever was a violent first person shooter, and I've only killed three people in my entire life.

@Koobert

Nice to meet you too, and thanks for posting a comment. I've heard of the Commodore 64, but not the VIC=20. Sounds kinda interesting. Thinking about old game systems and memories like this make me wish I never got rid of most of my old systems. At least I have the Wii and the Virtual Console though.

I can't remember my first gaming experience. I can't even remember if it was with an arcade cabinet or a NES, I just know that for as long as I can remember I've been playing 'em... So I guess I'm saying that I haven't got an answer for ya...

Hmmm...I don't remember my first time gaming. I remember having an atari but rarely being able to play it. Let's just say frogger, or pong.

My first time...

Yeah, it would have been Christmas eve 1974 (I was 5), and as my family tradition held, everyone on my Father's side of the fam got together for a big Christmas Buffet Dinner (Too damn many of us to put anyone through the hell of trying to serve dinner at someone's house), usually at a hotel. This one was at the Greentree Marriott (if I remember correctly - I WAS 5 after all), in suburban Pittsburgh, PA. There were certainly no real arcades to speak of, but this particular hotel on this particular Christmas had a PONG machine next to the payphones and cigarette machines. My father being the holiday cheer sort indulged me in a few games. PONG is pure lo-fi, almost laughably simple, and was black and while, with sound effects that could barely give the beeps your computer makes when it boots up a run for their money, but it didn't matter. I was hooked. That shit was - and still is - pure magic to me.
