After purchasing this bad boy about 4 months back I was sorely disappointed by a few things. First thing I never really liked was the design but I figured whatever functionality over looks. That was until I got home and plugged it in and soon realized the stick only rotates in a square instead of a octagon which I hate and think its impossible to do any moves in a fighting game being restricted to square movements. So after letting the thing collect dust for the past 4 months since I'm lazy and never return things I don't like, I came across some websites about modding the EX 2. Needless to say I jumped on the opportunity, never soldering anything in my life I went to Radio Shack and purchased the tools. After my buttons and new octagonal restrictor plate came I went to work. I also changed the cover art and spray painted the plastic to a match. Enough with this crap though on with the pics!

Finished product, came out good but I should have placed a clear coat over the paint. Oh well, its sexy none the less.

And no first soldering job would be complete without battle scars, this fucking hurt btw.
I used Seimitsu buttons, the restrictor plate and bat top for the joystick are Sanwa. Purchased from
Lizard Lick Amusements, And I used this tutorial
here.
What method did you find was best for printing and sticking the new faceplate label?
Not to be a dick, but so many people do that and it drives me nuts.
C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!
If I knew anything about painting I would of used that, but I don't so I figured glossy spray paint would work fine. Oh well I may pick up another EX 2 in the future when I see a cheap one used or something and mod it with a different design. And for the sticker if you check the tutorial I linked they used 3M Adhesive spray but since that shit is $8 for a can I went for the bargain brand lowes version of it which was half the price.
@Guagloves
Not very long, the spray paint took the longest just waiting 4 hours between coats. The picture itself I just ripped from Deviant Art.
@Sicknast & Arrested
Grammar natzi's. :P
@Vexed
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before how lazy I am, hence why crono is still wearing a Santa hat. I mean don't get me wrong they are in need of cutting, but man the effort its gonna take to actually find where the finger nail clippers have ended up... I swear I buy a new pair every time I need to cut them.
I have one of those, I actually burn't myself on the desoldering iron which doesn't have a nice springy thing to hold it, instead it was just sitting on that shitty metal holder thing that comes with the iron, I went to move the chassis out of my way and immediately forgot the iron was right there and put my finger right down on the damn thing...
@Puppy
Thanks, I will definitely be trying that out on my next stick mod.
Your right they are Seimitsu, fixed.
Putting in the new restrictor plate and changing the ball top out for a bat top is very easy and cheap. There is a good tutorial here.
