Metroid 3 is amazing.
ChrisFurniss | 9:42 PM on 08.29.2007 15 comments

If there's one game that could tear me away from Bioshock, it's Metroid Prime 3. Holy crap, this game is amazingly good. Take all the classic things that made the original Prime games so great (scanning, completionist ocd behavior) and multiply it by... let's say 3. There are even little mini-achievements! The voice acting is a fantastic addition, and the story seems like it's going to be quite amazing, wrapping up the storyline just up until the first metroid for the NES.

Oh yeah, and Mother Brain. Fricking Mother Brain.

Get it. GET IT NOW.

i beat bioshock yesterday and instantly started a new game on hard. Easy is pretty easy but hard is freaking hard. Lives up to the names, I guess! Excellent, excellent game. I can't say enough great things about it. Though I have one gripe. While the boss battles are intense and difficult, I kind of wish they had a grander scale. Like I kept expecting to fight a giant squid or something, all resident evil style. It's just a teensy gripe, though, and in no way should influence your purchase of the game. Everything is smooth, tight, and well constructed. The research system, the invention system, weapon upgrades, everything is amazing. A major leap forward in gaming. Though, I get the impression that somehow I may actually enjoy Metroid 3 more? Hm. I kept playing through the levels in bioshock wishing I could scan things. For a shooter it's an impressive mix of adventure and run and gun and strategy, but somehow I wish there were more puzzles and less.... shooting?

I am just picking things to gripe about now. It's a brilliant game. Get it, love it, etc.

also check my achievements. aww yeah. first time through? 760pts.

An Antlion Appears! Command?
ChrisFurniss | 4:35 PM on 08.13.2007 3 comments

You can add a saddle to an ostrich and paint it yellow but it will never be a chocobo. You can paint your cat white and glue a pom pom on its head but it will never be a moogle. Fortunately, you CAN own a Final Fantasy creature of your very own: an Antlion! AntlionDen.com is a supplier of fine antlion kits, perfect for level grinding with. I wonder what levels they start at!

While it was the same one I played at E3, it's still fucking amazing. This is going to be a game that lives up to the hype. What the heck!
