About Me

What's it like to be me? Imagine a thousand people throwing a party inside of your head and you're stuck outside without a ticket.

I guess I'm more collector than gamer these days. Sure I still play my 360/Wii/DS/3DS and so on, and I love them all, but I just don't have the free time like I used to.

I started my gaming life on an old Atari 2600 that my dad bought us for Christmas. I used to frequent the local arcade (early 80's) and I have a passion for anything pinball.

You may not know this but I also help run the Xbox 360 FNF side of business here on Dtoid. You can always host or find games to play here: Friday Night Fights Forum Thread

As of this update (4.19.2012) I currently have:

31 Consoles
34 Handhelds
1306 physical copies of various games
147 digital copies of games
Tons of other video game related items

I'm also a huge comic book nerd, here are some of my all-time favorites, not in any particular order:

Cerberus the Aardvark

Groo the Wanderer

Howard the Duck

I also love music, all types really. If I had to pick a favorite album of all time I would have to go with:

The Cure: Disintegration. This album is perfect, from beginning to end.

My daughter is also a gamer of sorts, here she is lavishing in all of her Nintendo plushies:

Oh yea, did I mention that I love Pinball more than any other game ever? Because I totally do.

I also like to doodle when I'm bored, as seen below

I drew that when I was bored.

Sometimes, when I'm not gaming or collecting I'll post blogs, here are a couple recent ones:

Here's the deal.

I have a problem. I've tried and tried to stop but I just can't.

Initially, I was going to break this post up in to two parts, because of the amount of nonsense that you will soon see. After debating on it for about a week I decided to go ahead with a single post because things aren't going to get much better from here on out.

WARNING! This post is VERY image heavy.

Due to the absurd amount of goodies that I will be displaying tonight I have decided to break this post up in to sections. The first section is:

VINTAGE

Up first we have a classic;

Donkey Kong Jr. Tabletop - 1983 by Coleco/Nintendo

This is a great little unit. This particular version is quite rare and typically fetches some decent scratch on the trading boards and whatnots. Luckily for me I managed to snag this bad boy on the Goodwill auction site.

Next we have the Radio Shack Astro Command - 1987

I really like this unit, the screen has an awesome "background" effect built in to it, it appears as though you are really flying in space just barely above some sort of space station. I know it's hard to tell from the pictures but I promise, it's there. This was also a nice little find via the Goodwill auction site.

Moving on to the next section;

NINTENDO

I went a little nuts with the Nintendo merchandise, I'll let the pictures do most of the talking here.

First up we have;
Neon Green Game Boy Pocket.

I am on a quest to own each and every color variant of every Game Boy model ever. So far i'm half way there.

Black Game Boy Advance SP

Another addition to my Game Boy collection, here we have the Black Game Boy Advance.

Now you can't have a Game Boy without;

A couple of Game Boy carrying cases!

I've been looking for this next item for a while;
Game Boy Micro

I wish this had the original box and all that but for the price I paid I really can't complain.

Another Nintendo handheld that I've been wanting;

Nintendo DS (original "phat" model)

This big fella here was sitting on a shelf inside one of the many Goodwill stores that I frequent. It was listed at $25.00 even and even came with a game (see below)

Not a bad deal at all for an almost mint condition DS +game, even if the game in question does sorta stink.

And finally the last DS of the night;

Nintendo DS Lite Guitar Hero bundle

I really like the design on the cover of the DS and the game itself isn't that bad.

Here we have a few more Nintendo console's / handhelds:
Nintendo GameCube (Black & Blue) - Game Boy Advance Silver w/Carrying Case

Not only do I want to own all the different color variations for the Game Boys I also wanted all the different Colors for the Game Cube. Now I have them all. Also included in the pictures, Super Mario World & Zelda Four Swords.

Here's the lone SNES title of the night;

Mario's Early Years: Preschool Fun

Not really rare or anything, I just wanted it since you don't typically see these things lying around very often.

Moving on to the games;

Some various / random Game Boy & Game Boy Color games.

Sealed copy of Battle B-Daman for the Game Boy Advance

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and Disney's Magical Mirror starring Mickey Mouse

Wario World & Mario Golf

Oh look! DS Games!

Dokapon Journey & Nostalgia

Hotel Dusk - Pac-Pix - Kirby Superstar Ultra - Guilty Gear - Drone Tactics & Trace Memory

Jake Hunter - Detective Chronicles and Memories of the Past

Kingdom Hearts

Puchi Puchi Virus & Dodgeball

Tetris (an awesome trade via the Destructoid trading forums with Harry Hood) & Mario Party

Lilo and Stich & Gardening Mama (both for my kid, cause she's quite the gamer herself

Professor Layton & the Unwound Future

Etrian Odyssey III w/ artbook

Hero's Saga Laevatein Tactics w/ artbook and collectible folder
That's it for the DS Games.

It'sa Wii time!

Red Steel 2 w/ Motion Plus controller

Metroid Other M w/ Art Portfolio

Batman the Brave and the Bold and Decca Sports 2

And finally to round out the Nintendo stuff we have some promotional stuff:

Metroid Other M poster (from GameStop)

Super Scribblenauts poster (also from GameStop)

OK, time to move on to the next section!

SEGA!

This section is fairly small and shouldn't take up too much space.

First we have my final Sega Genesis console. You see, I wanted to collect all of the different variations of the Sega Genesis, with the version below I have finally achieved that goal.

Sega Genesis Sports Edition
I can't wait until we make our final move next year so that I can proudly display all of my different Sega Genesis boxes.

And then there were games:

Earthworm Jim - Streets of Rage 2 & X-Men

Mutant League Football - Rocket Knight Adventures & Dinosaurs for Hire

NBA Live 96 - R.B.I Baseball 91 & Sports Talk Baseball

P.T.O & Risk

World of Illusion - Marsupilami - The Lion King & William's Arcade's Greatest Hits

F-15 Strike Eagle II

Batman Forever

Crystal Warriors for the Sega Game Gear

My Paint for the Sega CD
And that does it for the Sega section.

How's bout some........

SONY STUFF!!

I've always wanted one of these in the box:

Original Sony Playstation
I've been looking for one of these for a while, I wanted one in the box with original packaging. Now I have one.

Here we have some Atlus love - Disgaea Hour of Darkness - SMT Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2

Digimon Demon World & Neopets the Darkest Faerie

Graffiti Kingdom & Ty 2

Simpsons Hit & Run
I cannot stress this enough. If you are looking for some sweet, sweet deals then you need to check out the Goodwill auction site. All of the PS2 games listed above were won off of that site for ridiculously low prices.

Hey look! PSP Stuff!

Half Minute Hero & Every Extend Extra

N+

R-Type Command & What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord!? 2

Mimana Iyar Chronicles w/ Bonus CD

Ys 7 Premium Edition

Hot Shots Golf & Madden 11

Tony Hawk Ride
I snagged this at a Goodwill for 10 bucks, in the box never been opened. I don't care what the critics say, I like it. The game/Skateboard controller handles very well and is really responsive. It's a shame that it bombed so bad, it's quite fun.

Here we have the new PS Move Bundle!
So far I've been a bit under impressed with the Move. I guess it's my fault really, I should have waited until more games hit the market. Oh well.

Call of Juarez and Eye Pet
The Call of Juarez was on clearance at Target for $9.99. I've always wanted to play it and so far it's pretty good. Definitely worth the 10 bucks.

Well, that about wraps things up for the Sony section. Are you sick and tired of reading yet? No? Great! Cause we've got more to go! (But not too much, I promise).

XBOX 360

This is where things really get stupid. It's not so much the quantity in this section, it's more about the quality. You'll see.

We'll start things off slow,

Shenmue II w/bonus movie
I haven't played this yet nor have I watched the movie so I have no opinion. I can say this though, I paid a whopping $1.99 for it at Goodwill.

Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock and High velocity Bowling
Not sure why I mixed 360 with PS3 but there ya go, I did. High Velocity Bowling is very fun BUT since in order for the Sony Move to work this game can be quite annoying, making a true bowling motion often takes the move controller out of the camera range and results in a missed shot. I prefer the bowling for Wii sports over this.

Alan Wake Limited Collectors Edition
Amazon.com had these on sale a couple of weeks back for $39.00 with free shipping. I couldn't pass that deal up. Here are some more pictures for the curious few out there.

I really like this set, everything included feels like it belongs there and the box itself is great, from a distance it really looks like a novel.

Dead Rising 2 Zombrex Edition
My ONLY complaint with this version is the brochure that you see in the picture. I don't know who had this bright idea but the brochure itself has been folded in to fours and just ruins the whole experience. It's really sad that such care and thoughtfulness went in to this packaging only to be ruined by the crappy way that the brochure was included. I have contacted Capcom to see if I can get a copy that has not been folded. So far there has been no response.

Oh look, another Dead Rising 2!

Dead Rising 2 High Stakes Edition
Sucks that I didn't get the golden ticket, I really wanted that six foot tall zombie. Oh well, maybe next time.

This version is really, really nice. The briefcase that holds everything is solid (must weigh 2 lbs on it's own) and everything else included has been made with some serious care. The poker chips are heavy and the playing cards are glossy. This is one collectors edition that I do not regret buying.

So apparently there was this Halo: Reach launch this month or something. Guess it was a pretty big deal.

Awwww Yea! The new Halo: Reach Limited Edition Xbox 360 Slim!
For the record, I had no intention of buying this. I was talked in to it by my girlfriend. She said that I would regret it later and you know what, she's right. I would have.

Since I bought the Halo: Reach Xbox I might as well play Halo: Reach, right?

Wait, what's that say on the box?! "Bills Free Halo"? Why would Bills Free Halo need such a big box?

This is why!
My FREE Halo: Reach Legendary Edition courtesy of my local GameStop!
People, you can love or you can hate GameStop but one thing you cannot do is NOT go to their special store events. GameStops all over the country held a special Halo: Reach store event before the game launched, during this event you could enter yourself in to a contest to win the Legendary Edition of Halo: Reach. Only 4 people showed up to the event I went to. With only 4 people in the hat I had a pretty good shot at winning and win I did.

I attended the midnight launch event as well for Halo: Reach and also won/was given these:

Halo: Reach in-store over sized display box

Halo magnet set

Much love to my local GameStop, they are the coolest bunch of people ever and totally hook me up with goodies.

Good lord almighty on a fucking stick! Are we done yet?!!

No.

But just about. I promise.

Miscellaneous

Some random stuff for your viewing pleasure:

Plants vs Zombies Limited Edition
Check out that sweet cone hat. Very Nice.

Fallout 3 New Vegas pre-order goodies from Best Buy
These coasters look ten times cooler in person, I swear. I think I'm gonna go back and pick a couple more up.

Bionic Commando patches!
These were given to me by Harry Hood when we traded games. I love getting extra fun stuff!

AAAAAAAAAAAAND that's it!

We're done. Finished. End of the road. I promise, next time I post it won't be so ridiculous. What's really scary is that I left a bunch of stuff out, mostly swag stuff. maybe I'll add it all in next time. We'll see.

Thanks for stopping by and Funk, your Metroid poster / banner thing should be going out in the mail by the end of next week. I finally found a box big enough.

Have a good night and happy collecting!!

Nice haul you got there. I wish I could start collecting soon, it always seemed like it's game in itself.

Damn your tabletops and your ability to use Goodwill's online auction site! >=[ Hahaha! I've yet to get my hands on a GameBoy Micro as well, and I am saddened about how I had a mistake in judgment and didn't pick up a Famicon version of it I saw . . . =( A good price for the elusive launch DS also eludes me so far.

I somehow missed the original Jake Hunter and I don't think the sequel even hit Canada . . . >_< Hella nice pickup in the Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days WITH the slipcover! Hahaha! Man I was a tard about that! =) I'm also pretty jealous of the Hero's Saga Laevatein Tactics artbook, since we didn't get those in Canada . . . =(

Screw off with your Earthworm Jim on Genesis! =P Nice catch with both Digital Devil Sagas, plus Graffiti Kingdom is awesome for the sole reason you can actually make a pretty functional "penis monster" in it, hahaha! Also, play Ys SEVEN and find the character that is named after me and take a picture of it, since I don't have the time to . . . -_-'

Hook a brotha up with a couple sets of those Fallout: New Vegas coaster if you can mate!!! =O Those are hella ballin' and USA exclusive! Leaving out swag though . . . that's not cool mate . . . not cool at all . . . =P

Nice haul dude! Whatever happened to putting collecting on the backburner . . . ;-D

Damn Chilly, are you sleeping with your local GameStop employees? They must really like you for giving you those posters and game boxes.

Also, World of Illusion on the Genenis? Jesus Christ, that alone makes this blog full of win.

Amazing haul!

@Zarwid: It is a game of sorts, it's all about finding the best deals for the coolest stuff.

@Zombie: I have a feeling that the next haul will be nowhere near as epic as this one was. I'm just sayin is all..

@Funk: Yea, I had been looking for a Micro for EVER! I may be able to snag you a slip cover for Kingdom Hearts, I've got a hook-up at the GameStop that I shop at, I'll keeo you posted. The Hero's Saga artbook actually came with the game since I bought it off of the Aksys website. They actually have some decent deals going on.

I've been playing Ys 7 and have yet to find you in-game, maybe your in-game character is more towards the end? I'll keep looking for ya. And I will definitely get you some of those coasters, no worries there.

@Steezy: Nope, not sleeping with them just being cool. I've found that being nice and trying to create some sort of relationship is the way to go, you would probably shit your pants if I posted everything that I have gotten over the past few months (for free) from my GameStop.

@Doifx: Thanks man, I'm glad that you have enjoyed your visit.

@Ron: Exactly.

@Mana: And it's alot to organize and find a place for as well.

@Occams: You're welcome.

This is a seriously impressive haul. That High Stakes edition of Dead Rising 2 is something that I wish I had bothered to preorder - very nice finds on those table tops too.

BTW the PSP "What did i do to Deserve this my Lord 2" looks SW33T!!!

Nice Haul as always.

@ Guaggloves

That's not bad at all...
I got two Asian PS3 Dead Rising 2's. One has the Japanese Cover.

@Possum: Yea, I was totally psyched when I snagged those tabletops, I love all of the old retro stuff, to me all of it is 10x's better than anything that's put out now.

@Artemus: No, I do not live in a warehouse.....yet.

@Lewness: Thanks!

@Guagloves: The only reason why I went with both special editions of Dead Rising 2 is because both are 100% different (besides the game). Typically an "uber" edition of a special edition has 1 extra goodie, in this case both special editions brought something different to the table.

@BS3 Owner: I have yet to play WDIDTDTML2 but I've heard that it's quite fun, and let me tell ya, the cover art for the Japanese version of Dead Rising 2 is way better than the American one.
