About

I'm the Community Playdate Manager for Destructoid. Looking to play some games with other Dtoiders? Check out the forums and watch the blogs and front page for all of the fun!

I guess I'm more "collector" than gamer these days. Sure I still play my 360/Wii/DS/3DS and so on, and I love them all, but I just don't have the free time to play them like I used to.

I started my gaming life on an old Atari 2600 that my dad bought us for Christmas. I used to frequent the local arcade (early 80's) and I have a passion for anything pinball.

You may not know this but I also help run the Xbox 360 FNF side of business on Dtoid. You can always host or find games to play here: Friday Night Fights Forum Thread

As of this update (1.09.2012) I currently have:

33 Consoles
47 Handhelds
1562 physical copies of various games
155 digital copies of games
Tons of other video game related items

I'm also a huge comic book nerd, here are some of my all-time favorites, in no particular order:

Cerberus the Aardvark

Groo the Wanderer

Howard the Duck

Usagi Yojimbo

BatMan

I also love music, all types really. If I had to pick a favorite album of all time I would have to go with:

The Cure: Disintegration. This album is perfect, from beginning to end.

My daughter is also a gamer of sorts, here she is lavishing in all of her Nintendo plushies:

Oh yea, did I mention that I love Pinball more than any other game ever? Because I totally do.

I also like to doodle when I'm bored, as seen below

I drew that when I was bored.

Sometimes, when I'm not gaming or collecting I'll post blogs, here are a couple recent ones:

Well it’s about that time again; time to take a stroll down Haul Lane to see what magical and curious swag and games have come my way.

These past months have been an eclectic mix for me; I've come across some things old and not so old, some things new but not that new. Some things swaggish and something totally swag.

I guess it makes sense to start with the past first and work our way to the present:

As many of you know I compulsively collect, like many other collectors on Destructoid I simply have to have everything and anything related to gaming. One of my many goals is to own each and every console ever produced. I know that this is quite the lofty goal but I am determined to see it through.

ZONK
Produced in 1976, Zonk is a “pong” console. As you can see from the pictures below I received this console complete in box, which includes all hook-ups, foam packaging and instruction manuals.

The console itself works great, there is some slight yellowing from age but it's pretty minimal, nothing the typical onlooker would notice.

Here's something that I have been wanting for a while (although I already have one unboxed that my girlfriend found for me while Goodwill shopping):

Nintendo Power Pad
I never had a Power Pad as a kid, I always wanted one so that I could take my Track & Field skills to the next level. Now I can finally live the dream:

Sucks that the box has some staining towards the top left but the pad itself is mint, I don't think it's ever been used.

Now since I am determined to collect all consoles produced I am bound to also collect all variations of said consoles. Here we have two different versions of the Sega Genesis:

Sega Genesis 2 (model # 2)
I already had the original Sega Genesis model complete with box and when I saw this bad boy sitting all lonely inside of Goodwill I just knew I had to bring it home with me.

Model number 2 eh? How about this:

Sega Genesis 3
The Sega Genesis 3 is somewhat of an odd duck when it comes to consoles, the unit itself was manufactured by Majesco (who many of you may know as a video game making company) and was targeted as a "budget" system, retailing for $50.00 usd.

Both the Genesis Model 2 and 3 are in fantastic condition and work like a charm.

And what console would be complete without some random games to play them on?
Random Sega Games!

Also random Game Gear games for teh winz!

I only found one decent SNES game that I just had to have but boy, is it a doozey!!!

Earthbound

And the best part.....

The only way this could have been better is if it was complete in the box.

I don't typically collect PC games but for .99 cents how could I not buy this??

My Xbox game collection is seriously lacking so any decent finds I come across I jump at them:

Goodwill is great for buying original Xbox games if you can find them, they never charge more than a dollar or two, at least here in Chicago.

Here's something totally random:
Nintendo Gamecube Gameboy Adapter

If you were/an owner of the Gamecube AND the owner of several Gameboy Advance games then you had to have this, well at least I did/do.

One thing I haven't collected much of is video game related toys, I am now changing that, albeit slowly:
Dead Space: Isaac Clarke

Not really much to add to this except Toy's R Us has a pretty decent selection of toys based off of games, if you were interested.

Have I mentioned just how much I love collectors' editions of games? No? Well I do!

Bioshock 2: LE

One of, if not the coolest special editions for a game to date! The whole packaged contained an LP (music from the game), CD (soundtrack), Art book, posters and a seriously nice box. The Big Daddy in picture #1 was not included but it just seemed to fit so well with the whole setup. (Ravioli not included)

Speaking of special editions and whatnots:
Dante's Inferno

I was going to keep the figure all wrapped up but decided to throw caution to the wind and display that sucker.

Last but not least we have some random video game related merchandise. The first item is the new Halo:Legends blu-ray.

I decided to get the steelbook version from Best Buy since it didn't cost any more than the regular blu-ray version.

Boy am I glad that we have 7/11's where I live, hell if we didn't I would have missed out on these:
God of War III Slurpee

The bottom of each cup has a special code to use in game for some unlockables. I forgot what they are but I'm sure if you look hard enough around the Net you will find out what they will be used for.

Whelp, that's about it for me. I hope you have enjoyed visiting my tiny little corner of D-Toid and I look forward to seeing you all again.

Happy Hunting!
