According to one theory the Incas of Peru, who had failed to conquer the Araucanians, called the valley of the Aconcagua "Chili" by corruption of the name of a tribal chief ("cacique") called Tili, who ruled the area at the time of the Incan conquest. Another theory points to the similarity of the valley of the Aconcagua with that of the Casma Valley in Peru, where there was a town and valley named Chili.[12] Other theories say Chile may derive its name from the indigenous Mapuche word chilli, which may mean "where the land ends,"[13] "the deepest point of the Earth," or "sea gulls;" or from the Quechua chin, "cold," or the Aymara tchili, meaning "snow." There's a funny story about how I get that t-shirt.
March 2007; I was in Valdivia (My former hometown in Chile), attending an anime convention. They were gathering people for the usual Karaoke contest and said to myself: "Why not? I might have a shot at it".
So, I enlisted myself for the contest and since I didn't wanted to sing the typical "oh-so-happy-generic-anime-opening-song", I went all out with "Snake Eater" from MGS3. Long story short, I won. Not because of my singing talent (if I ever had one to begin with), but just because I wasn't doing what the rest of contestants did... to stand there singing, without moving or getting the people involved with the song.
So the prize was actually good... an assortment of random anime merchandising (Stuffed dolls, a couple of DVD's and PVC figures) plus, a t-shirt. They had several ones ready and most of them where from anime shows... and one of them caught my eye. Wasn't about an anime series I don't care about., it was from one of my favourite games.
So there you have it. I got a snazzy MGS related t-shirt which I love.
o: That has got to be the greatest way to win a shirt I have ever heard. Besides "Hey, how many world class super models can you sleep with?!! You can win a shirt!", but I'll keep dreaming.
