Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
As a three year veteran of DAoC (New Frontiers really killed the game for me), I'm really considering subscribing simply to play this game with my friends.
Unlike WoW, where all gameplay is merely a means to the ends (reputation, honor, xp, gear, money), WAR is nearly entirely built around a fully functional war. The gameplay itself is the end game.
I find that to be a far superior model. It's one that doesn't require me to put in infinite hours of grinding to get my goal. I can play "casually" inside infinitely-better PvP situations.
BUT! There are some cool things going on that are different from WoW that I'm interested in learning more about.

Because they don't realize the polish, and features come with TIME.
Do you think WoW was anywhere near where it is today when it first launched?
Fuck no.
the systems were there you could see them and they worked.
In WaR the combat feels broken, skills do shit and nothing is implemented.
Could it change over time? Yes.
Do I hope it will prove me wrong? Hell yes.
