Commercial Flashback: Oracles are EPIC
Charles Sharam | 1:00 AM on 11.07.2008 9 comments

Behold the glory of 2001-era CG production:

This computer generated sequence hasn't aged well at all, but it was awesome back in the day. And I mean awesome. Epic music, epic vine-walls, epic Link, epic shattered swords re-forging themselves into even more epic not-shattered swords, and other epically epic things -- what's not to like? You've gotta love the fill in film trailer announcer who sounds more like he has a head-cold than the testosterone-infused voice of a movie-hyping macho man. For the record, Oracle of Seasons was my favourite of the two games. To hell with those nitpicking puzzles and hurrah for the rod of seasons! THE ROD OF SEASONS!

What about you guys; Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons? Any particularly sentimental memories from either game?

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

LOL, I love the lips at the end: "Get into it!"

These are great games.v

For sure, Garison. Nintendo had some memorable advertising campaigns. Do you remember "PLAY IT LOOOOUD?!" Classic stuff. ;]

And now it's "we would like to suck, I mean play."

Wait, to Nintendo they mean the same thing.

Fire rod is the win, in Links awakening you could kill the dog with it...so awesome.

Never saw this trailer 0_o

I dunno, I don't think that the CG adult Link fits well with the cartoony Link that was actually on the box, and in the in-game cutscenes.. They were definitely going off of Ocarina of Time's popularity for that commercial.

@ RonBurgandy

No kidding. My NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube... really all of my Nintendo systems have gotten extensive use over the years, but the Wii just sits there, collecting dust. What a shame.

@ Sidar

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about haha. What a bad ass weapon. Never seen this before? Well, you're not missing that much lol.

@ ShawnKelfonne

Definitely, my man. Thanks for pointing out that inconsistency. I have an Oracle of Seasons poster on the wall in front of me and yeah, it becomes clear they were trying to capitalize off the success of OoT.

Fappin' awesome (thats right, somehow fap became an adjective)

Holy crap! I can't believe you found that commercial, and even more astounding is that I actually remember watching that numerous times on TV! And it's not the Fire Rod, that's the freaking Rod of Seasons! =P

Oops! Thanks for pointing that out, I had Link's Awakening on the mind. I'll edit THE ROD OF SEASONS in right away. And for the record, the fire rod is still pretty ballin'. Glad you enjoyed the commercial, it's so epic.
