First of all, do you want to know why I am madly in love with the Destructoid community? This morning my Inbox was full of tips about a dolphin story that just made the news this morning. Seriously, I think I got more tips about this than I did about all of today’s gaming news combined. The fact that a bunch of you guys went out of your way to direct my attention to an incredible tale of dolphin heroism is pretty much the greatest thing ever. I <3 you all so hard. So, what story am I talking about? Well, according to CNN (and multiple other sources), a couple of pygmy whales in New Zealand were about to beach themselves (most likely leading to death) when a dolphin the locals have named Moko came to their rescue. Rescuers were actually on the scene and had been trying to save the whales themselves for more than an hour when Moko appeared. In fact, the rescuers were about to euthanize the whales in order to prevent them a prolonged, painful death. Moko swam up (apparently responding to the whale’s distress calls), unafraid, and guided the whales along the beach, through a nearby channel, and out into the open sea. And then, after all this, Moko actually swam back to shore and played with the rescuers and some local residents. You can watch video of the story here. Are you kidding me with this?! Goddammit, dolphins are amazing! Not only are they cute, but they are the FREAKIN’ SUPERHEROES OF THE SEA! Moko, I am dedicating today to you (Moko Day!). If you were here, I would give you a hug. J/K. Yeah Dolphins are awesome. I remember in Florida one swam by me and I thought "Shark!" and nearly pissed myself and then I saw it was a dolphin. He never let me grab onto his fin and swim around but he did swim around me in a playful manner.
So yeah Dolphins=fantastic
