I don’t mean to judge, but I am assuming a large majority of you all will not be watching the Super Bowl this weekend. I am not trying to insinuate you aren’t real men or hate sports or anything; I just figured most of you were nerds like me who don’t really care about what happens to the Giants or the Patriots (that’s who’s playing, right?).
But, wait. Before you plan a Rock Band get-together or major all-day Call of Duty 4 online extravaganza, please consider watching the greatest television event of all time. You see, three years ago I was introduced to the precious jewel known as the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. Basically, it is three hours (yes, you read that right) of ridiculously cute puppies playing together in a giant pen that resembles a football stadium. I have watched it every year. 
I can’t really explain to you all how amazing it is -- you really just need to witness its greatness -- but I will tell you that they actually introduce each of the puppies at the beginning like they do real sports players. Oh, and there is a guy in a referee outfit that actual calls “fouls” during the show for things like “Licking violation!” and “Poop penalty!” It is incredible. 
Now, all of this is well and good, but nothing will prepare you for the half-time show. I have to take a breath before I type this because even thinking about it is too much for me to handle. *takes deep breath* Halfway through the show there is something called the Kitty Half-Time Show. This sequence alone is worth the price of admission. 
As the puppies leave the field for a break, the lights go down and these round, multi-level platforms come rolling out. A disco ball then drops from the ceiling, accompanied by swirling pink lights and sexy techno music. At this point, a barrage of kittens skitters out and starts playing on the platforms with various toys and catnip-laced goodies. While the sassy kittens are doing their thing the camera guy zooms in and out really fast and uses handheld techniques to make the sequence feel “hardcore” and “out of control.” The whole thing is amazing. It is absolutely, unbelievably, ridiculously amazing. Puppy Bowl IV airs this Sunday (2/3) during the Super Bowl from 3-6 p.m. on Animal Planet. Please watch it. You will not be disappointed. I can’t effin’ wait.

Senior year of college we had a puppy bowl party and it was awesome.
I completely agree with you that puppies > kittens, but the over-the-top production that is the Kitty Half-Time Show needs to be seen to be believed. :)
Also, I am actually out-of-town on Sunday. I am TIVOing the big event this year. Otherwise, a Dtoid Puppy Bowl party would, um, OF COURSE happen! :)
