Damn, I think I am hyping this up too much. It is not the sequel to a Triple-A title, but it is the follow-up to one of the most addictive games to come out in the last couple years. Does that help? Shoot, I shouldn't say anymore. Sorry for being so vague. I hate being that guy, but I had to get it off my chest! Back to work ... :)

I'll say puzzle quest 2 and you're making this blog and not Colette because she died of excitement.
Okay there's not much to work with but let's try a slight process of elimination:
- "The confirmation of this sequel is not the big news (as rumors have already surfaced about its existence)."
Betting since cliffy B's comments yesterday that that big news is gears 2, so what's this sequel then?
- "What was extremely exciting was how new and different the game is from the original."
It's a sequel so definitely NOT a remake.
- "All three of us were very pleasantly surprised."
Hmmmm, an 'amazing' sequel to a possibly average, underrated, or possibly forgotten game? Or something that news of a sequel of would not initially generate excitement until seeing the game itself?
So what sort of game fits this criteria?
(Like I guessed before) Dead Rising?
Ico or SOTC? (although thats a long shot, the games are amazing enough)
Chromehounds? (or mechassault?)
Killer instinct 3? (wishful thinking on my part)

Viva Pinata 2? It wasn't a big Triple-A title, but it was a fairly big title and sold pretty well. Also, one of the major points reviewers made was its addictiveness. Oh, and the Pinata Team at Rare said they are working on something we'd like better than VP DLC, they said they would announce it soon, and they mentioned it would be on store shelves this year.

I officially put down my vote as Crackdown 2.
It fits the pleasantly surprised comment('cause it's good to see a sequel to a quality game), it fits the rumor comment (seeing as the story was left wide open for sequel potential and I heard somewhere they were making it), it fits the far off comment (no one has said it yet), it hits the let down comment (since some people only bought it for the Halo 3 beta anyway), and it hits the addictive comment on the head (orbs FTW).

Ive matlocked it out, by combining this blog, with Dale North's recent frontpage article I have deduced that Bomberman is going to be rereleased with Mr Destructoid as every character, possibly in 3d, and across every platform, including DC.
Thats an awesome announcement Chad, you better not disappoint me.
Either that or Sony has announced Final Fantasy 14. I really thought they would stop at 13, colour me surprised.
