Hey gang. Sorry about missing out on last night’s caps. Had to have a day to rest after the amazingness of PAX. Actually, if you don’t mind, I’d like to share a PAX moment I think a few other Dtoid members shared in (if you did, please let me know in the comments).

Friday night of PAX started much like any other Friday night; I got dressed all fancy, looking to spend a night on the town with friends. This meant, since I was in Seattle, it was time to go to Gameworks. As soon as I arrived, I couldn’t find any Dtoid people. So I thought, “Screw it, I’ll grab a drink, and walk around until I see someone I know.” I went up to the bar and took the only empty seat. In doing so, I triggered what might be one of the strangest PAX moments I’ve experienced.

As I sit down, the gentleman next to me pulls out his rather fancy SLR camera, and shows me a picture of a girl cosplaying as Lilu from The Fifth Element. While the picture was fantastic, I was confused as to why this complete stranger was showing it off to me. I became even more confused when said gentleman began to converse with me like we were longtime friends, going so far as to buy me a drink.

“Ok”, I thought, “Maybe I just found a really nice geek to chill with for a bit. Whatever, it’s PAX; shit like this is bound to happen.” Then things got weird. First, he told me a story about how he had a gun drawn at him outside the convention for his three-day pass (which I had to promise to never tell anyone…oops). Then he told me about his aunt’s house on the outskirts of town that he had no idea how to get to, but needed to find so he could have a place to sleep. Then a final turn towards “WTF?!?!” was made as this completely random person asked me to stay in my hotel room.

From here I didn’t know what to do. I’m notoriously bad at getting out of strange social situations, and this was one of the strangest. Luckilly, my room mate for the weekend showed up. As he and I were talking, the random guy kept trying to get into the conversation and failing badly. So my roomie and I decided to get up and look for other people. Random guy followed. He stalked us for a good five minutes around all of Gameworks. We got a break when random guy decided to show off his Lilu picture to some other unsuspecting nerd, and we escaped scott-free out the side door. I never saw the guy for the rest of the weekend.

The next morning at the Dtoid panel, I heard that this guy had apparently spent the night getting drunk at Gameworks and trying to make his way into random people’s hotel rooms. Do any of you folks happened to have experienced this weird dude’s advances?
