So I finally unwrapped my 9 month old copy of Resistance 2, and started playing it for the first time this weekend. I have to tell you, after playing other great games like Killzone 2 and Gears of War 2, this game just does not cut it. I'm almost completely done with the single player campaign and I have not been impressed at all so far. The graphics are sub-par, the story is completely contrived, and the action is very cookie cutter.

You need to understand that I loved the first Resistance: Fall of Man, so I had my hopes high for this sequel. So far those hopes have only been crushed. Now I haven't played the multiplayer yet, and I've heard good things about it, but the single player campaign is just crap. This makes the 2nd game in a row that I have been disappointed with. First there was MadWorld last week, and now Resistance 2 this week. What the hell is going on here?

Besides these crappy games, I have some pretty stressful stuff going on in my personal life right now. All in all, I have to say the last week was pretty shitty for me. I'm hoping things make a turn for the better soon, but right now I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Anyways, I'm not going to bore you with the details of my personal life, and there are much more important things to talk about, like the Cblog recaps.

Great recaps!

... Resistance 2 was definitely a disappointment after Resistance 1... and the competitive multiplayer was also disappointing (R1 was just MUCH better)....however, the R2 co-op online mode is very different and a lot of fun! Not sure how many are still playing... but I pretty much got my Supreme Commander rank playing about 90% co-op. If you get a small group together to play let me know! (I'd be into going back and playing again... though it's been several months now).

Yeah, the R2 single player was not very enjoyable. Totally forgettable. Competitive multiplayer might actually be worse.

I bought the game almost exclusively for the co-op, which I played a fair bit of after doing the beta of it. I really wish there had been more variety to it, because it was very fun yet got pretty boring rather quickly. Going back to it now I might enjoy it again, but Y0j1mb0 has me all hooked on Devil Summoner 2 now. Can't complain there.

Also, if your Recaps were a beautiful woman, I would take her out to an Italian dinner, have sex with her, AND call her afterward. Such is my commitment to Recaps.

While the single player campaign in R2 is sub par to that of its predecessor there are some really great aspects about it. The scope of the game in some parts is massive, and I found some levels to be some of the best I have ever played. I love the Chicago level in R2, there is so much variety and its paced so well. If the rest of R3 was that good then you got a winner for me. The co-op is pretty much amazing. I spent to many hours playing co-op, more so than anything else. The competitive is okay, not the best but the co-op is where that game shines.

PS: Hopefully all the issues in your personal life end up working out for the better.

Hurray for recaps.

R2 felt like a rushed job, the story was just bleh, the only real thing I liked about it was Capelli, and the multiplayer was enjoyable for its time. And by multiplayer, I mean co-op, because I wasn't big on the other modes. I dunno, I know that Insomniac Games is a talented company, they just need to make their games look less like rush jobs like R2 and, in my opinion, R&C: Tools of Destructions.

On a side note, I have to admit, I'm not too terribly big on the series, I only played R2 because I needed something to do while I waited for Killzone 2 to come out.

Urgh, I'm in that mode again where I read a post about some mysterious bad things happening in one's life, and it leaves me to assume the worst. You have no idea how much I hate getting that feeling, so I'm hoping things will work out for you soon.

I brought Resistance 1 for a fiver quite recently, and was quite shocked at the graphical quality! I remember being impressed about three years ago when I first saw it, but today the game looks really dull and without life. I almost feel as it could have been achived on last generations hardware, even though before, I thought completely the opposite.

That's funny because I enjoyed both Madworld and Resistance 2. However, I haven't played the original so I don't really have anything to compare it to judge whether it was a sophmore slump or not.
