Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I am SO with you in this, my new years resolution was to finish all my (importantish) games before I buy any more. I have kinda stayed with my goal so far, pretty much all I have been playing is the PS2 classics. But I don't like how games stress me out. I feel like I am always looking forward to the next game after the current one. Like now I'm playing Paper Mario for the 64, but I just keep wishing I could finish it and move on to the next one. I think if we all got over this, we would all be much more satisfied gamers.
I only buy games that I am very interested in, and know will finish to the end ASAP after purchase. By doing this for almost four years, I elminated the exsistence of a backlog. Before then, mine was huge. This really depressed me.
But I realised that it simply irresponsible to keep doing this, and decided to change my spending habits. I buy one or two games a month, and that gives me ample time to finish them. I rarely play RPG's anymore, but that honestly does not bother me, I kinda get bored of them now. However, I only brought Fallout 3 in the month it was released on, and played that game for hours on end, it's great.
I don't buy every new game simply because I don't need to, I stick to what I like and love about videogames, and play the games that appeal to my tastes, which are very broad. Sure, I might miss out on games that other people might rave on about, but if those games don't appeal to me, what's the point in buying them?? I don't bother woth retro games, seeing as I never did have, or will have, a desire to play them.
Try to decide what games you know that you will see through to the end, then base your purchases on that. Screw the industry, they just want to make you poor. :)
Great Job on the recaps, as always, good sir. :)
I like this idea and think it'll be good for all who participate. On the wallet and the mind.
Well, alright I lied... but I've been waiting for some Samurai Showdown action for my PSP for the longest. After that, I'm done for a few months... I SWEAR!
As for playing WAY TOO MUCH Street Fighter 4... DOUBLE CHECK!
woot... 2-0 for not making it in FailedToid. I'll try to keep my perfect record!
<Dan pose!>
holy shit... a Dan pose? Maybe I do need a break. I'll go back to Persona 3 for a few days...
