Ahoy hoy all,

Tonight's my first ever cblog recap. Originally, I'd wanted to take a few minutes and say a few words but this has been a long and exhausting first time out, and Conrad's been nice enough to stay up and answer all of my stupid questions. For this kindness, I will reward him (and you) with brevity.

As you likely know, there was something of a meme this weekend. The uber-meta-review stick was whacked upon many a head and we've got it all documented right here in this weekend's recaps, with proper chronology and everything.

Let's get to it:



*- A phenomenal introduction from the mind of Simolinic, who responded in depth to a question posed (in a recent article regarding Majora's Mask) by Matthew Razak.

*- nekobun brings his "A"-game to the musing table with a lamentation of gaming's most pervasive element: people.

*- Monodi offers a remarkably well-reasoned method to understanding the realities of gaming and getting the best from your expectations.




M- and0 explores Assassin's Creed II's design elements encouraging your agency, then smacking it down.

M- mada7 is not a fan of the dialogue in Bioware titles.

A- Mueti would like you to give visual novels a chance.

S- Subenu adds Deus Ex to the video-game canon.

M- Norse mythology, and subsequently Too Human, is Odintal's bane. (See it, in his name? Eh?)

M- Izuki Guroto loves JRPGs but hates the non-realism of turn-based battle.

M- Strange and a shame that AwesomeExMachina's musing about the materialistic and financial trappings in Animal Crossing has yet to receive any attention.

P- skull13666 makes available the first episode of podcast "The Spoiler Box".

M- AstralDrmz says a few words about The King of Fighters XII.




I- Head on over and wish campbell00 a warm welcome.

C- Krow expresses his reminded love of Destructoid.

C- InstraClassic laments the conspicuous absence of game conventions in Vegas. (This sounds like a call to arms if ever I heard one.)

E- B-Kin Round One is concluded, but Everyday Legend promises videos to come.

I- Mueti reminisces the joys of shared experience and conversation with online gaming friends. Say hello.

I- Hard not to like somebody who has Ramona Flowers for an avatar. Welcome Galaxy Ninja to the fold.

C- covah offers us a cautionary tale.

I- An abundance of welcome! Flamma Man joins Dtoid's merry brood with an interesting project.




V- A soundclip video with euphemistic content? Get right out of town.

T- Tone Marley's playing Forza a lil' bit differently now.

T- Tonglongninja would like more sex in his games.

T- Mr. Jonathan Holmes has to get a few things off his chest (not-quite-)about Bit.Trip 4 and No More Heroes 2.

T- Just a few bullet-point what-have-yous (most about Bayonetta) from Tubatic.

T- The results for Destructoid-voted "gaming's greatest ninja" are (pretty much) in.

T- cm Katarn isn't particularly happy with Infinity Ward's matchmaking services. Huh. Probably not alone.

N- Diverse has got a piece of inside on Infinite Ammo's next project. (Colour me intrigued.)

R- BenelliM4 digs Red Steel. Says so with words.

T- The6thSamurai is not feeling the love for the next Castlevania.

V- The-Excel shares a Left 4 Dead tsundere sound mod.

R- Black Nexus has little ill to say about the God of War collection.

T- vApathyv offers up his suggestions for Rock Band artists deserving of revisitation.

R- ohno includes the word "climax" in this Bayonetta review.

N- Monodi fills us in on the Smithsonian's eventual "Art of Games" exhibition.

V- Tubatic shares his favourite trailers of the past year.




A- VVVGamer shares with us his visit to the Grand International Cosplay Ball (nifty pics).

F- Genki-JAM invited folks to join him for a viewing of "Black Dynamite" (now over).

A- Jack Maverick wouldn't mind some input and collaboration on his comic.

S- Sonic9ct put together some pretty schway threads featuring Mother 3.

S- CreamyGoodness7 shares Firefox's answer to Chrome's personalization features.




R- thefightnerd's a fan of the wrestling. Fair 'nuff.

CBB- Emrah clearly knows what he's talking about, and hints at a convincing argument about resolution.

CBB- "Misinforms" is a gross exaggeration, and Sapato's points read more like interpretation than "fact".

R- Enjoy your vacation, randombullseye.

CBB- I have a weakness for people who have a principled strength of resolve (see also: stubborn).

R- Piece of Heart Charity draws to a close. Magnalon warmly thanks the Dtoid community.

CBB- AeinSilverwolf implies some solid perspectives, but gets lost in an oft-hostile tone.

CBB- Quite long; barely read (Bugsport)

CBB- Kavahn ponders how "hardcore" Call of Duty's hardcore mode really is.

CBB- TheRPGist gives it to Sterling+ in this tough-to-justify, though hard-to-fail, meme-esque criticism/satire.




randombullseye gets the ball rolling on this thing, reviewing Jim Sterling's review of "The Saboteur", then..

.. hands it to Elsa, who carries the torch beautifully and passes it onto..

.. Kraid, who immediately adds many more things to the picture, just before dumping steaming hot tradition into the lap of..

.. Tubatic, who takes it like a champ, letting it cascade over his legs into..

.. the bathtub of GamesAreArt, who later receives a noise complaint (too much splashing) from downstairs neighbour..

..wanderingpixel, just an innocent bystander in the grip of destiny.

Garison warps us back to Elsa's review, and a simpler time of but-thrice-removed commentary.

What, now Jim wants in on the action? So meta.

Topher says thee pancakes.

And randombullseye is back, with a pancake rebuttal!

Anonymouse constructs a pun that would earn a nod of Jim Sterling's mighty head, though only a terse one.

wanderingpixel requests that you do as he says, not as he does.

Cataract will not be told what to do by pixels of any ambulatory habit.

ace of knaves demonstrates his prescience and everybody gets pre-told.
