You know what sucks, being ill. I've caught my first cold of the year so most of my day has been spent polishing off several tonnes of painkillers to keep my headache under control and desperately trying to complete the now notorious final stage in Tekken 6's Scenario Campaign. Yes if you've had the misfortune of experiencing the horrific Nightmare Train then you know what I mean. Fortunately all it took was about 60 attempts and a lucky shot to blast Devil Jin out of his misery and clear the mode, gaining myself 75 gamerpoints in the process. Then I took on the giant robot that forms the Arcade mode's bonus stage. Trust me when I say that winning that fight was the most hardcore fighting game experience I've ever had. Dodging, blocking and constantly beating the living crap out of the always deforming robot until with a slight piece of life left I took the fucker out (45GP). Now I only need to have 15 more online fights and for the first time I'll be able to say I have taken the full 1000 gamerpoints from a game. That's a major thrill for me.
If you're in the UK and figured you could leave preordering the Black Edition of Assassin's Creed 2 until the last minute then you can just about fuck off. Both the 360 and PS3 versions are now listed as Sold Out on the Play.com website, so if you fancy that sexy dark Ezio figure and the conspiracy book then you're shit out of luck. In other news, I suddenly realised today that AC2 will be the first PS3 game I've bought which'll have the new PS3 logo on it. Small details but I think the new PS3 banners on the boxes are damn sexy.
Also, by the time I write this next week you Americans will have L4D2. When I wake up I'll have L4D2 as well, so you'd better believe we're throwing it the fuck down on Thursday night.
Before I let you get on with the blogs I want to ask a question. We supposedly need multiplayer in every game, but what is going to be named as people's game of the year this year? Will it be a primarily multiplayer game like MW2 or L4D2, or could it be a pure single player game like Assassin's Creed 2? I think we've seen some truly fine single player games this year, so don't think multiplayer is infecting everything.
I haven't played a fighting game that was so frustrating since Soul Calibur IV. It was so unfun trying to do the Tower of Souls, and some of the other bonus things you could do in that game. Hearing about Tekken 6 makes me want to try and avoid it, since I'm against playing games that top other games I've played in terms of frustration. That, and 3D fighters aren't my forte.
I give you kudos for overcoming that.
Onto GotY, so far, I think Uncharted 2 is fantastic. I loved everything that the story had to offer, and it looked beautiful. The fact that it has pretty good multiplayer as well is a neat bonus. Of course, I haven't tried MW2 or L4D2 or anything else yet, but I think it'll be tough for some games to best Uncharted 2.
Great recap man. I loved your story. But may I ask a question to do with the recap. Many times you have your "Failtoid" filled. I come from a different community site that also had a blog, and I wish to continue my activities from there eventually(post a blog). Do you have any advise about not sucking? Any advise for a first blog?
I was thinking of posting a video I made for my old site, would that be a good idea?
For a first blog it's generally recommended that you post an introduction post. Who you are, what you're about, what games you play etc. From that point on I'd recommend doing purely original content and link to older stuff in your blog sidebar which you can edit in the profile menu.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

No way I made top-sauce! I will immediately begin crafting the worst, inarticulate flame-bait to compensate.

Oh hey, recaps. Those things are pretty rad.

Thanks for the recaps, always appreciated!
Cap-fapping. It's not just for breakfast anymore.
But oddly enough, I almost always do fap the caps in the morning.
Hope you're feeling better soon!
... and in regards to game of the year, no idea yet, but I suspect it will be a game that has both offline and online play like MW2.
Fap dem caps, yo
