Shit man, sorry to hear that! I saw you mention that in The Bar. Sucks.
Thus, I shall fap these caps extra hard, but not quite to the point of permanent injury. I may draw a bit of blood.
You don't even have to type in Word, just hit that "save and preview" button often.
... instead of Word, you might try a free program called "Evernote" - www.evernote.com - it's a very robust program that stores thousands of blogs in a really nice format. Another thing that I constantly use is a small firefox addon called Quicknote - http://quicknote.mozdev.org/ - quicknote pulls up a 4 tabbed small "notepad" for taking notes, writing comments (with a resizeable window). It integrates right into Firefox and saves itself continually so you never lose anything you type. I like both of these packages better than Word as they are more web friendly and both retain your notes in a better format than Word (you don't need to open a document... all documents are right there and can be easily read).
Thanks for the recaps Anonymouse!
I had to learn the hard way, too, so I'm sorry to hear that the whole thing had to be rewritten. Glad you managed to plug on and eventually get it up, though!
@Else
You and your fancy-pants "add-ons" and crazy fiddle faddle! I use Notepad and love it!
Hahahaha ... I figured I get a reaction like that. Thanks for the perseverance!
@Mega... yeah, notepad is good... but if you don't save it and something happens, you lose your data - the other programs autosave. In particular, Evernote is an incredible free program. It keeps all your notes or blogs in a timeline, you can categorize them, include links, pictures - it's really flexible! I've been using it for years now.
... and it's FREE! :)
Thanks everyone!
...and Elsa,I'm gonna check THAT out!
Your last topsauced post links to Google Groups. Oops.
Ugh, what a silly mistake. It's fixed now.
Anyone else find it strange that when someone edits a blog post, it temporarily warps into the Hidden Zone? I don't get that. Some bit of weird internet architecture, I guess.
Keep up the good work!
@Elsa - I'm forced to agree. Evernote is a program that is in a hojillion ways extremely useful. I personally use it as both a digital art portfolio and a note taking/storing/sorting system, so that I can sift through notes from classes for studying and refreshing my memory. Definitely worth trying out.
@Anonymous Thanks a lot of including my post in the recap. I love writing about games, but it wasn't until this post that I thought I'd actually put it up at Dtoid to see what kind of response it would get. Thanks a lot for the warm welcome.
@Jinx - No problem.
Well, you've learned from your mistakes. That's part of life. You're a trooper.
MkShiranui: The "Save & Preview" button saves your post but takes it offline. The "Publish" button saves the post and makes it public. So, if you're editing your blog and hit the "Save & Preview" button instead of "Publish Live", it'll be hidden. It's just one of the cblogs' little quirks.
That is weird.
Well, it appears that "Okami nerd" is now my official title. I wonder if Dan CiTi has an opinion on that.
