So, a few weeks ago I said I wouldn't be buying Pokemon X or Y. But then I watched a friend playing the game and couldn't get over how beautiful it looked, and so a few days ago I caved and bought Pokemon X. The biggest draw for me was the 3D models for Pokemon in battle. It might not seem like a big deal, but seeing my favorite Pokemon moving around in beautiful polygons on the battlefield really makes me happy. The game plays pretty much the same as every other Pokemon game, so the only thing that really feels different to me is the graphics, but it's such a major improvement that I think the purchase was worth it.
Right now my team consists of Ninjask, Zangoose, Malamar, Crustle, Hawlucha, and Cubone, although I'll also rotate in Pangoro, Octillery, or Weepinbell on occasion. I don't know why, but whenever I play Pokemon games, I never end up using the starter Pokemon or any of the legendaries. Even though they tend to be the most powerful, I just don't really like any of them. I always just stick with my favorites.
Cubone will always be in my party, no matter what. Same with Zangoose, he's definitely my favorite post-Generation 1 Pokemon. I've always been intrigued by Shedinja, and I'll usually put him on my team for a little while once I get him, but I've never come up with a good strategy for using him. He only has 1hp, and it seems like everything I fight somehow knows a move he's weak against. This time, I decided to use Ninjask instead of Shedinja, and Ninjask is really starting to grow on me.
As for the new generation Pokemon, Hawlucha, Malamar and Pancham are really the only ones that I like (and Crustle... I didn't play Black/White so he's new to me!). I don't know why I'm not too crazy for many of the newer Pokemon designs, but every once in a while they come up with a new one that I really like. At least it makes it easier to decide on a team of six!
