SilverDragon's away this weekend, so this is my first opportunity to post caps since becoming a reserve recapper! I'm not usually one for posting short random thoughts (which is why I have over a dozen cblog article/essays in various stages of writing), but I'll give it my best shot.
For the past year, I've been living in Ottawa, which is almost 2000 miles from all my friends and family. Since I left my Masters' program last spring, my real-life social activities have been extremely limited (with my visit a few weeks ago with Kraid, Blorp and BeverlyNoelle in Montreal being a rare exception). So, I can't tell you how amazing it was to have one of my best friends from back home visit for the week. Every day, I would show him around the sights of town: Parliament, interesting stores, and a ridiculous amount of museums. Altogether, we hit at least 7 museums/historic sites in only 4 days! Now I'm pretty sure my blistered feet are prepared for a similar tiring experience at PAX!
Here's some of the highlights from his visit:
- At a science museum, we saw a kid, no older than 10, repeatedly shout "EPIC FAIL" and variations thereof to a film of failed rocket launches. Has Internet slang become that common?
- At the war museum, we were given a short lecture by a volunteer about some neat military trivia. Of course, he didn't know that I have a history degree, and my friend mostly plays military strategy games...so we weren't exactly "enlightened" by him.
- While touring Parliament, we saw a cabinet minister, clad in a casual t-shirt and pants, shopping in the gift shop. Kind of an odd situation, since he works there!
- I almost convinced him to purchase some antique documents (some were from the 17th century!) as souvenirs, but he chose instead to buy some expensive dress shirts and pants...which are things you can find in any department or clothing store back home!
Since we were on our feet for 8+ hours a day, we also took the time to catch Scott Pilgrim, which was amazing, obviously (though I don't think my friend got all the retro gaming references).
Wait, why have I been writing all this? Oh yeah, caps! Let's get to them, shall we?
Looks like I was lucky (or generous) this weekend! As a reward for this, here's some of Ricky Gervais' "comedy characters", including Ho Lee Fook, the little Chinese fella.
As a former recapper and destructiod community fan girl, I always love the recaps. I regret not having the time to do them anymore. :(
That said, looks like a well done job with the recap. I always got a little confused by the letters in front at first, but after a few weeks you'll know it all intimately.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Loved the caps man. Thanks. I think this is the start of something beautiful.

@Beyamor
Not only are these canon, they're gun cannon.
Thanks.
