SilverDragon's away this weekend, so this is my first opportunity to post caps since becoming a reserve recapper! I'm not usually one for posting short random thoughts (which is why I have over a dozen cblog article/essays in various stages of writing), but I'll give it my best shot.

For the past year, I've been living in Ottawa, which is almost 2000 miles from all my friends and family. Since I left my Masters' program last spring, my real-life social activities have been extremely limited (with my visit a few weeks ago with Kraid, Blorp and BeverlyNoelle in Montreal being a rare exception). So, I can't tell you how amazing it was to have one of my best friends from back home visit for the week. Every day, I would show him around the sights of town: Parliament, interesting stores, and a ridiculous amount of museums. Altogether, we hit at least 7 museums/historic sites in only 4 days! Now I'm pretty sure my blistered feet are prepared for a similar tiring experience at PAX!

Here's some of the highlights from his visit:
- At a science museum, we saw a kid, no older than 10, repeatedly shout "EPIC FAIL" and variations thereof to a film of failed rocket launches. Has Internet slang become that common?
- At the war museum, we were given a short lecture by a volunteer about some neat military trivia. Of course, he didn't know that I have a history degree, and my friend mostly plays military strategy games...so we weren't exactly "enlightened" by him.
- While touring Parliament, we saw a cabinet minister, clad in a casual t-shirt and pants, shopping in the gift shop. Kind of an odd situation, since he works there!
- I almost convinced him to purchase some antique documents (some were from the 17th century!) as souvenirs, but he chose instead to buy some expensive dress shirts and pants...which are things you can find in any department or clothing store back home!

Since we were on our feet for 8+ hours a day, we also took the time to catch Scott Pilgrim, which was amazing, obviously (though I don't think my friend got all the retro gaming references).

Wait, why have I been writing all this? Oh yeah, caps! Let's get to them, shall we?

*-GoggleKnocker has a nice lament for the days when game were delayed rather than released with bugs and missing content.

*-As usual, Funktastic got some more rare games, players guides, swag, etc.

*-Dtoid San Fransico had an awesome NARP last week. I'm topsaucing this because it's the closest I'm ever going to get to being at a NARP...

*-randombullseye has an automatic shotgun-themed games of the week.

*-Hollie Bennett thanks the Gamescom community editor/video team. They practically took over the site this weekend!

A-Defaultsound hopes that the new Goldeneye game will make gamers remember how fun splitscreen used to be.
A-Some worried opinions about Metroid: Other M from Toadofsky.
A-Bonfire Dog presents an outline for a game...or an analysis of game design. I'm not quite sure.
A-Nihil lives up to his name, with a brief reminiscience about some dark and disturbing games.
S-The Silent Protagonist has the first part of series of Metroid musings.
P-Griff presents his new mini-podcast: Games of the Week. I've been on podcasts with him before; he's a cool guy, and you should check it out.
P-Shrine Impulse is on its 9th episode.
P-Communicast episode 4 was recording today.

OOOOOOOOOOH CHIMPANZEE THAT! MONKEY NEWS!

E-ShiMuNi showed Twilight: Eclipse. I was there for it. It was awful. I played Zelda on the NES for most of it.
S-RichardBlaine got a copy of Crimson Skies from Corduroy Turtle...
S-...and knutaf got a game from him too!
I-XTYLEE joined the site for entering contests, but unlike most of those people, he's been kind enough to introduce himself. Welcome!

N-JACK of No Trades has a trailer for some DLC BlazBlue characters.
V-More of McKn Decker's Let's Play Terranigma videos.
V-Mace Poodle has another episode in his Eight Bit Strange series. Some excellent CG animation!
T-CrazEboy7 has an idea for a Jersey Shore game. Well, they did make a Hell's Kitchen game...
T-Klipsched got a new game writing job, but he'll be still posting original content here.
T-Like Jim Sterling, SuperSheeep is another Brit who has realized how fun Saints Row 2 is.
T-Lil DangerouZ thinks that stupid gamers are lazy. Or was it the other way around?
T-chaotical played some games this week and...played Portal for the first time?!?
T-A paraphrase of mattrodtoid's post: "A man chooses, a fanboy obeys".

A-garganroo drew an awesome picture of a situation I wish I could be in someday.

L-DimmuJed wants more camel toes in games. Personally, that's not something I want to see in the uncanny valley.
R-Beyamor writes a drunkblog. Surprisingly coherent.

Looks like I was lucky (or generous) this weekend! As a reward for this, here's some of Ricky Gervais' "comedy characters", including Ho Lee Fook, the little Chinese fella.

A post by an uninitiated recruit? Someone tell me, are these caps still canon?

Loved the caps man. Thanks. I think this is the start of something beautiful.

As a former recapper and destructiod community fan girl, I always love the recaps. I regret not having the time to do them anymore. :(

That said, looks like a well done job with the recap. I always got a little confused by the letters in front at first, but after a few weeks you'll know it all intimately.

@Beyamor

Not only are these canon, they're gun cannon.
