Hello friends! I'm giving you two Fridays' worth of blogs today, because it seems last Friday's recaps were forgotten about while I was on vacation. And speaking of my vacation, I had a lovely time in North Carolina last week with my family. Got to chill out on the beach, swim in the waves, and pick up a wild horseshoe crab. Those things are pretty bizarre! Anyway, it was a very relaxing week and a much needed break from work.
While on vacation, I also played a bit of Wario Land 3, my first venture into the Wario Land series. I'm really enjoying it, and plan to pick up 4 at some point as well. I love Wario's wacky animations; flailing around in the water, wobbling up ladders, shouldering enemies into oblivion. He's definitely a unique player character.
I also got to show my 4-year-old niece how to play the game, after her curiosity was piqued by watching me play. She was pretty good, too! She figured out how to defeat those polar bears that shoot ice at you all by herself, even though she couldn't figure out where she was supposed to go after that (she's 4 though, give her a break!). Moments like that make me excited to be an uncle. I probably won't have any children of my own to introduce to video games, but introducing my nieces to them is surely just as fulfilling! I've already played some other Nintendo games with her at my sister's house, like Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3D World Runner (she especially liked that one, for some reason). And during my last vacation, my other niece watched me play some Shadow of the Colossus, and she seemed to really enjoy it, as she gasped and rooted for me to win. Being an uncle can be fun :)
