Did you know it was New Years? Unless you live someplace that uses some Mayan calendar or Byzantine calendar, lots of people celebrated the New Year, including a few recapper apparently. But that won't stop me, even though I barely lived through an uncomfortable 12 hour turnaround used exclusive for sleep.
Yup, I worked New Years Eve at Disneyland's California Adventure and worked a shift until 2:45am. Then, for Wednesday I worked at 2:15pm. I basically came home to sleep and came back for work. I'm pretty tired and have another shift at 3:30pm as I type this up at 1:50am but hey, at least these caps are on my terms as opposed to being at work past 2am. But hey, at least these caps are ready for your reading pleasure! If you're wondering where the Monday and Tuesday caps are, they're coming they say. The call was never made to cover them though, so we'll have to trust that their respective recappers will finish them eventually.
This past holiday hell week was exceedingly tiring. I spent an incredible weekend with my girlfriend and had a great mini vacation of two week's worth of days off running together but all that shopping, Christmas working, and this current full 40 hour week I"m staring down is going to wear me down quickly. Luckily, I have something other than Pokemon to talk about. Asides from the fact that Pokebank still isn't out (thanks Japan).
I bought several eShop points cards from Best Buy at 20% off. Altogether, I bought Link Between Worlds at normal price, Project X Zone at 50%, and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D at regular. Project X Zone was a big surprise, being a special price on the eShop until the end of December so I finally get to experience another one of Banpresto's excellently flashy strategy tile games at a ridiculous price. I also got Fex for $5 off Xbox Live during the end of the year countdown sale, along with The Wolf Among Us for free and State of Decay for $10. For once, I actually have quite a respectable backlog to brag about. I even managed to beat Link Between Worlds over the previous weekend and am playing through it again on Hero Mode to experience the game again with a healthy stream of Streetpasses from work to feed my economic drive for rupees.
I'm engrossed in Project X Zone right now. The only reason I'm trying to burn through it so fast is because I want to unlock X and Zero and play as them, even though I already have Ryu/Ken and Chun-li/Morrigan to smash generic looking monsters. I'm surprised at the Capcom pedigree at work during battles since you have to learn how to string together combos well to do well. You have a certain number of attacks you can do during a battle encounter and call in help from partner characters and nearby pair units and the better the cross together hits between all these characters and continue air juggling your enemies, the the more cross energy you earn to perform actions like counters, defends, and super arts. It's really addicting to optimize combos among all your units plus I get to learn about a lot of different niche titles through the Namco/Sega crossovers with Capcom like Resonance of Fate and God Eater.
The worst part is the dialogue and story though. Seriously, I don't care how these different worlds cross together so everyone fights together. I'll just mash on A to get through the god awfully long conversations quickly.
