Lots of rants, a big ol' buttload of Monthly Musings, and plenty of fine readables. Also, Cowzilla says G.I.Joe doesn't suck too bad. It sounds like a perfect movie to watch at the drive in... I'm fortunate to live in a city that still has one of these, though it's been rumored to be closing imminently for at least five years. When you're more concerned with seeing a movie for fun than for picture quality, it really can't be beat. My friends and I load up lawn chairs, coolers and blankets for late at night. Your ticket lets you watch as many movies as you can stay awake for, and even if you only watch one, they show first-run movies for less than a standard theatre will charge. Pardon my nostalgia, but I really will miss it when it's gone.

Hmm... yeah, that had nothing to do with anything. Let's get to those recaps.

*-MowDownJoe's Musing relives the glory days of non-realistic sports games. I would kick a sharkdolphin square in the snout to get a hold of Base Wars again.
*-Ali D has some practical suggestions for what limited edition game bundles SHOULD include. Game developers, please take note.
*-Elsa's Musing examines the irony that those who need assistance in games the least end up getting it the most. In recognition of her insight, I will type the rest of this post wearing nothing but underpants.

A-ChristRogue makes a persuasive argument denouncing time trials. Topher supplies a good analogy to eating ice cream.
A-Cartman listed off a few things he thinks developers should really try to avoid in the future.
M-TonySwank sucks at Role Playing Games. Hey, he said it, not me.
M-ShadokatRegn's Musing looks at the dark side of playing games with your friends.
M-Pangloss discovered a universal truth a long time ago... no matter how good you are at something, there's always someone better. The trick is learning to enjoy it anyway.
M-Laika One's musing looks back at the Space Quest series, specifically the third entry in the sextet. My best friend at the time and I once played that game to completion without a walkthrough, the internet, or even a hint book. I had a lot more free time back when I was younger.
M-Thefil's Musing describes how he invented the term Ragequit way back when. Everyone else is just biting his not inconsiderable style.
M-8bit Coder's secret shame is his relative suck factor at survival horror games.
S-dTunes' special guest this week is Mr. Dillinger. He features some music from his native land.
S-Tanukitsune played four games this week featuring (in order) Boobs, ass, boobs, and Sonic. Plus he got a red ring. Not quite the best week ever.
S-Not too many postings in NihonTiger90's What'd you Get post this week. Everyone's saving up for PAX.
P-Danzflor suggested a bilingual podcast for those Dtoiders who (unlike myself) Habla Español. Several community members are on board, sounds like this may be one to watch out for.
P-FAILCAST episode 45 dropped today, with special guest Pangloss.
P-Backwards Compatible released episode 20 today.

C-Not a contest yet, but Krow is teasing the prize already. Over 40 games that weren't exactly burning up the charts, but are still pretty solid. Wonder what we have to do?

E-Dtoid Austin is havin' a party.
E-Tonight's movie, courtesy of Master Chop, is Rock and Rule. It's not quite Heavy Metal, but it'll do.
S-Drel's mom is recovering nicely. He also talked a bit about games.
I- Greetings to Blue Odeyssey, whose initial post deals with hype and credibility. Welcome to Destructoid.
B-Join Gibbo in wishing Fusion a happy birthday. That cake looks like cheese.

N-For the next month, the Virtual Console will be hosting Star Wars licensed games. Batthink had the scoop this morning.
R-Diverse tried out some indie Shoot'em'ups and has some recommendations for you if you're into that kinda thing.
P-AndrewG009 went over the Arkham Asylum demo with a fine tooth comb and here shares his impressions.
P-SephirothX downloaded and played through the Final Fantasy: Dissidia demo. You can read what he thought here.
R-Arch649 had an interesting idea: comparing the HD and SD releases of multiplatform games. First up is Ghostbusters.
T-RyGuy314 ranted about Gamerscore and Trophies.
T-NTSC U ranted about the Wii. Longest. Sidebar. Ever.
T-NTSC U also ranted about... the Wii again. Hmm.
T-D-503 ranted about how games seem to be biting off of Hollywood more and more frequently these days.
T-SephirothX thinks these changes could crystallize Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer into perfection itself. What do you think?
T- GutterTecher wrote a bit about Passage.
D-Jforcegames debuted a trailer for their Unstoppable game, which looks to be shaping up nicely.

A-Matthew Blake showed off some game-related art, and some that was less so. It's all pretty spiffy though, so have a look.
L-I'll say this is literature because it relates to comic books... It's a bit of a leap, but that's the recapper's prerogative. TattooJoe3rd shared some cosplay photos he took at the Chicago Comic Con.
F-Cowzilla's review of G.I.Joe raised my perception of the movie from Meh to Hmm.
F-CaptainBus says the director of Schindler's List and E. T. the Extraterrestrial may be interested in doing a Halo movie. Let's file this one under Rumortoid for now.
F-Kjohnson585's Ratchet and Clank movie script is up to chapter 6, and he managed to work in a grindboot sequence. A Pixar-style R+C movie would be a pretty good idea, come to think of it...
S-SuitcoatAvenger went into debt for his art today.
S- Silverdragon won a contest a while back, want to see what he won?

L-NCHammer made money from the internet! Without resorting to Porn! Also, "Clowns#!% insane" may be the best description of another human being ever.
R-Michiyoyoshiku has been totally NOT pirating a bunch of older Batman games to get ready for Arkham Asylum.
R-Brlito is hyped up for I am alive.
L-This ended up being misinformation, but it's well written and humorous. Sorry about that thing you broke, Rev. Macro.
R-Subenu pointed out that the featured Wikipedia article today was on the somewhat overlooked Vagrant Story.
V-Blogging can kill you, that's what Mega64 taught me. Also, Crunshii died.
?-Brag Game Rights will be at PAX this year. Umm, 'k.

S-Happy (belated) birthday, Gameboy.

I wasn't kidding about that underpants thing. I just don't trust myself with a knife in this outfit, though.

True story: I've never seen the end to Dick Tracy. My parents took me to a drive-in theater to see it twice. The first time, I fell asleep before it was over.

The second time, the screen was struck by lightning.

I didn't even know that could happen.

I have never visited a drive-in. Hell, I don't even like the theater so much anymore compared to the price, comforts, image quality, and sound that I get at home. But for a crappy movie, the drive in sounds pretty OK. Anyway, nice recappage.

Cool that you still have a drive in! I used to go every week in the summer when I was a teenager... that's where I first saw Star Wars!

LOL on typing this in your undies (... and the age old question...boxers or briefs?)
:)

Thanks for the recaps! (and topsauce!)

And if it's briefs, Ghostbusters or GI Joe screen print?
