Everyone knows the original Power Rangers theme song, right? How many are you are familiar with the new themes from later seasons? Thanks to the Disney Channel (as well as having a four-year-old cousin who watches all the shit I watched as a child), I've sampled a little of just about every season of the series, and I gotta say... I dig the theme songs. Sure, they're the cheesiest of cheese and sound like they were all recorded the same afternoon by the same group, but I love that butt rock garbage! I love how there is some mandate that the lyrics contain the same "Go! Go!" chant in every incarnation. It's a carry-over from the Fox Kids days, I assume. Ever realize how every Fox Kids cartoon theme song mentions "Go! Go!" or "Gotta go!" or some other permutation? So damn lazy.

The Rangers will be coming back soon, this time on Nickelodeon, and I can't wait to see what schlock they cook up this time! I'm dead serious, though. If someone today offered me a role of a Ranger in an upcoming series, I would say, "Fuck yeah!"

I don't know if it's nostalgia, but growing up with the original, it had far and away the best theme. Also, is it me or is the yellow ranger always the hottest?

I grew up with the original, too, and its theme is weaksauce by now. It's like people who swear by the 80s Ninja Turtles over the 2003 series, even though they haven't seen the original in years. I have DVDs of the original, and past the first season the show is facepalmingly awful.

The original Power Rangers will always hold a special place in my heart. The Dino Thunder one was the only other one that was really good too. All of the other Power Rangers I couldn't care for.

It always bugged me that in the original Power Rangers show the yellow ranger was asian, the black ranger was black, the blue ranger was a homosexual, the pink ranger was a girly princess and the red ranger was an alpha male jackass.

The green ranger was cool though.

Then they changed the line-up so that the Yellow Ranger was black and the Black Ranger was Asian. And Billy was not gay, you take that back.

I'm just disappointed that in none of the seasons was the Red Ranger a chick. Girls can't be team leaders, huh? Technically, there WAS a female Red Ranger in SPD, but she was the leader of the rouge Rangers who defected at the start of the series.
