Wow, for a bit I thought there wasn't going to be any fail blogs today. Thankfully some choice community members did not disappoint!

I sadly am giving up on Super Mario Galaxy. Not that it's a bad game (it's an astounding game even), but because of the complete bullshit swerve they give you if you want to get that final, 121st star. When you beat the game with 120 stars, you unlock the ability to play as Luigi. Pretty sweet, even if he is a lot harder to control. However, the game expects you to get 120 stars with Luigi before allowing Mario to get the 121st star. So, I'm really only halfway through the game. While not necessarily a bad thing, it's certainly a tease.

Did any of you actually beat the game with Mario and Luigi, and get that 121st star?

I should mention I also waited several months before going through with Luigi, so it was almost a fresh playthrough and I wasn't worn out.

Wow, kind of early, isn't it?

And when I found out that you could beat the game with only about half the stars, I finished and said "fuck it, I'm done." Once you beat the game (quite quickly too) there really wasn't any motivation to keep going for me. Also, the controls weren't bad, but I feel I could have had more control on a normal controller than holding two halves independently.

I unlocked Luigi, and got 60 stars with him, then just kind of quit. I do plan on completing the game at SOME point.

Also, Galaxy is the best 3D Mario game, I don't care what anyone says.

I played through as Mario then immediately started and completed the game as Luigi. The second time through was a lot faster. Only took me three extra days. I was expecting the final star to be hidden in some �ber-special amalgam of the best parts of all the game worlds, but it was just more BS purple coins in front of the Princess's castle. Buuuuuust.

I just started playing Galaxy for the first time last week. School and half-price Bioshock kinda put it on the back burner though-- and yes, I am a year behind.

I can't answer whether or not I'll get all the stars twice. Those ones on the Y-shaped planetoid the little green guys send you to were impressively difficult to attain. Like... controller bitingly, FFFFFUUUUUU... difficult.

Well, I think it depends on what you're good at, but I found the trial galaxies nothing compared to some of the purple coin ones. Wait until you get to "Luigi's Purple Coins". ;)
