About Me

I joined up Dtoid a while back, left for a while, and now I'm partially back. Kinda.

I love fighting games, shmups, chocolate milk, things that are bad for you, and drinking games.

Dear Destructoid: We have a problem.

Now, the first thing that anyone is going to notice in this blog is the formatting. Yes, I am writing this blog in Google Chrome, and I
am doing it on purpose. Google Chrome is, as most of you may know, a web browser released by Google last September
second in the year of our Lord 2008 AD. Being touted as revolutionary with the way it handles processes and tabs, as well as a
system to decrease memory bloat, Chrome got popular pretty quickly.I personally started using it late November after Firefox
would continually take up an overly excessive amount of memory and CPU whenever I used it.

It's not like this issue is a surprise, either. People have been very vocal about issues with Destructoid (more specifically,
Elephant) and Chrome playing nice together, especially on Destructoid's uservoice community feedback page, which I think most
people forgot about, including the staff.

Here's a link to it: http://destructoid.uservoice.com/pages/10603-suggest-a-feature

Now, go to that link and scroll down. The seventh highest item, as voted by the community, is to add better support for Google
Chrome, added by Niero himself. In fact, it's even noted as planned. What you may not realize, is the fact that it's been up there
for at least seven months, and nothing has been done about it. This Wednesday, Google Chrome will have been out for a year
(stable, not beta), and there is still little to no support for it on Elephant. Despite being listed as planned, nothing has been done. I
think it's time to live up to your word (aka Full Life Consequences), and finally fix the bugs thats Elephants having with one of the
most popular browsers in use today.

Is this post awesome? Vote it up!

I agree. Even though I use Firefox because it's better. But Chrome is a pretty cool guy.

It's a matter of personal preference. I've never used any extensions or add-on's with Firefox, and Chrome runs unbelievably fast for me. IT comes down to what you want out of a browser, in the end.

It's not just a matter of personal preference. Any website worth its salt should work with all the major browsers, despite how big a pain in the ass it can be to implement. I'm guessing Destructoid is using some kind of unorthodox coding methods that cause Google Chrome to get a tummyache.

I think I read one of Niero's comments in a recent blog how it's in the process of being done. I don't think his eye is off the ball concerning Google Chrome playing nice with Dtoid.

I use Chrome too. I would love to use Firefox, but I can't seem to get it to run smoothly on my netbook (which is the only functioning computer I have right now). I can't wait for Chrome support!

We're working on it! I think after Monday, when the new video section is finally up, a lot of the stuff at the top of UserVoice will get looked at and finished. Remember, it's just two and a half guys working on this site :)

Firefox is just a mere shadow of it's former self, but I still use it.

@Zombutler
Remember when Firefox was shitting out on you and I gave you that fix? It still shitted out on you!!

I had chrome but since I was too lazy to explore it I got rid of it. Maybe now it's coming on a year i'll give it a shot. I still love firefox but if Chrome is puckering to take Firefox's throne...

What Hamza said. If you want to roll up your sleeves and help code a fix, be our guest. What do you think Senor Robot does all day, silly goose.

As a coder I have no idea how the heck you'd deal with extra line breaks erroneously put in by the web browser. IE and Firefox are smart enough not to send a <CR><LF> when the input box wraps, but some of the newer browsers haven't bothered to follow the status quo. I'm guessing a javascript message to the input box to turn off word wrap before submitting could do it, but that's kind of a hack. Interested to see how it gets addressed

Funny as I just finally ditched Firefox today in favor of chrome, Firefox has serious memory leak issues no matter what version I use, I just got tired of it eating upwards of 2GB of ram for no apparent reason with one tab open. It seems the more RAM you have (I have 4GB) the more RAM firefox uses. It got to the point the browser was eating so much ram it was slowing down everything I just couldn't take it anymore, the only plugin I ever used was XMARKs so I'm not missing much. Chrome is light years faster anyways and eats less than a third of ram that Firefox did.

How does half a guy work on the site? Chainsaw mishap? Tragic farm accident? I'm picturing some sort of Lieutenant Dan kind of thing.

TY for the feed back in my article.

I didn't like Chrome as much as FF, but it's OK, I don't like things too clean, looks like empty.
