Because most people who buy Wii dont read up on it. They buy it because they have kids that want it or they heard that its cool from a friend
I totally agree. The Wii is kinda "meh," really. Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy really don't warrant the purchase.
Well, Galaxy almost warrants the purchase, but, I digress.
Erm, all I can say is... Um... People are retarded?
I agree...I mean it doesn't even play Talladega Nights
I bought it because I had 450$ burning a hole in my pocket. Next up -- an iPod. I hate those stupid iPods, such a fragile, overpriced piece of garbage. I always cringe when people waste 200$ on those piles of shit.
And yet I may buy one...
Because lots of people enjoy playing it, and the public at large is not the same group of people who sit around and bitch about games on the internet. Let's face it, the average Dtoid reader is just a tiny slice of the console gaming audience. It's cheap, kid friendly, and the average Wii buyer doesn't give a shit about HD graphics or online play, and are going to be perfectly content with only 3 or 4 great games.
Sadly, I can empathize with your lack of use for your Wii. However, I definitely think it's a good system. It's still finding it's way in this world and is already beginning to realize it's potential. Games like Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda, and the upcoming Smash Bros makes it worth keeping/picking up in my opinion. Also, as one parent told me as I was camping out for mine last year, "It gets the kids off the couch". All in all, I still give the Wii two thumbs up.
Mxyzptlk hit the nail on the fucking head here. It's obvious that the Wii's main audience are actually casual gamers or kids. Out of about 7 million owners, I'd say probably 2 or 3 million are hardcore gamers or Nintendo fans. The rest are like my cousin, who is 25 and doesnt play games, but he plays the Wii. He actually like Madden 08.
The seems like more of the same from Nintendo. Much like the GameCube, it has a number of really great first party titles, some awesome third party titles, and more crap than you can shake a Wiimote at. I own a grand total of three Wii games in all the months I've owned mine. They are; The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy. I'd buy Metroid Prime 3 except I haven't really played the first two GameCube ones yet, and I own Resident Evil 4 for the GameCube already. Besides Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there's a whole lot of nuthin' coming up for the Wii that I actually want. Maybe No More Heroes will get me excited, but we'll see.
Please allow me to adlib your blog to make it more enjoyable:
How is this possible? I still don't understand. I am a dtoid reader. If you look through the halls of "The Internets" you will find many dtoid readers. And, they will mostly all tell you the same: don't waste your energy.
Yet, people continue to make stupid cblogs in spite of its only 3 great members (and 2-3 "good" layms), no online loving, sloppy seconds, terrible mini game reviews, and pre-mature ejaculations on 90% of their encounters. I see no reason to read anymore community blogs in the face of the women who lineup at my doorstep or the P90's utility. Yet, they post on.
If the release of charles manson with his mind play were still on target for December, I might say the new bowflex extreme is a slight buy this Christmas combined with motorcycle, but it's not. If you're like me, the most played DVD was the goonies. And you haven't played it for 5 months, and at least 3 weeks have gone without you even openning your windows.
What gives people? Are you buying the hardcore hype, in preperation for future cblog failure? Are you releasing chickens into the wild because of their beautiful soul? I just don't get it. Enlighten me.
see what I did there? Your blog is improved by 100000% and I put about as much effort as you did
Damn, that was cold blooded FuriousGeorge! Sure, this is a dead and done topic mostly, but at least he put the effot of typing in.
I buy my console based on what games I want to play. I have a Wii for Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros, Fire Embelem, and others. No More Heroes sounds like fun too. I also have a 360 for things like Halo 3, Mass Effect, Viva Pinata, and a lot of other games.
Also, Wii is cheaper, thus ignorant parents save a few bucks.
Lmao @ F Whipple
FuriousGeorge understands what many don't about the clogs, and I love him for that.
Myself, him, and the 3 other people who realize the same thing are clearly a rare breed.
@FuriousGeorge - Can you teach me the ways of the internet?
Enlighten me.
Not everyone thinks like you.
I bought a Wii on launch day, along with Twilight Ptincess and Trauma Center. At Thanksgiveing & Christmas, you know what all my friends and family played? WiiSports. That's it; they had no interest in anything else that the Wii could do. And then, they all went out and bought "WiiSports" so that they could show their friends. Hell, I'd hazard a guess that WiiSports has never left many of their consoles.
Thanksgiving just passed, and I've ammassed a pretty big collection of Wii games. Mario, Metroid, Resident Evil, Zack & Wiki, Fire Emblem, etc. You know what they played all goddam weekend? Guitar Hero III. I think it's tghe new WiiSports for them, and they'll probably all go out and buy it, and it'll be the only game they play for the next year.
whatever, the point is, a lot of us don't have 8+ hours a day to play games, and for us, the Wii has plenty to offer; it's the only console I own.
Enlighten me.

For my tastes, the Wii is already the best console of all time. And I'm not a Nintendo Fanboy. I actually think that Mario 64 and Zelda 64 are the two most over rated games ever, and in general the N64 is my least favorite console in history.
But the after only a year existence, the Wii is already house to 5 of my favorite games ever, those being Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Resident Evil 4 Wii port (the controls make it so much better than the GC and PS2 ports) Twilight Princess, and Geometry Wars Galaxies (yes, I'm a sucker for the old school).
Plus the Wii has had the fastest rapid fire release of above average games that I have ever seen. Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Zack and Wiki, Super Paper Mario, Trauma Center 1 and 2, Metal of Honor Heroes 2, Wii Play Tanks and Pool, all above average, all exclusive.
Not to mention the Virtual Console.
If you're thinking the Wii isn't a great system worth every penny of it's lo cost, then you either haven't bought the right games or just have very different tastes than my own.
i bought it for galaxy and zelda
