About Me
I own a 360, Wii, "Special" Xbox, a hardcore PC I built, and the software company I work for has a GoldenTee Machine and Electronic Dartboard in the break room. I am not sure if I am hardcore but I check Dtoid about 10 times a day and post while I am talking on the phone with customers because I need t be doing more than 1 thing at a time or I will go crazy. I don’t really hit any other game sites but I do check out Digg, The Onion and CollegeHumor at least once a day to see what they have going on, man I love those sites. I mostly play FPS's because there is always someone that is better than you and it gives you something to stride for, as opposed to platforms that just drive me crazy where you have to not get lost, pick up a key, jump on an impossible ledge and figure out how to unlock a door or something, man I really hate those games. I mostly like online multiplayer because of a constant need to measure myself against other, also AI is no match for a 15 year old. Anyways, I am a huge sports fan and play on 3 different softball teams, anyways I am hearing myself in my head and I am sounding like a douche with all this so I am stopping. I would give this description 4 out of 5 meh's

Has any one played this game yet? I rented this game this weekend to see how the Wii mote worked as a light saber...turns out it didn't work so well. The game doesn't even really use the mote as a sward. Basically you just push the "A" button to swing, while holding the mote either straight up or strait down to make a high swing or low swing. The one time you do get to control your swing is during a death blow, but by controlling it means when the arrow on the screen points in a direction you need to swing the mote in that direction. The whole thing is bogus in my opinion, I guess I will have to wait for the Star Wars game to get a real sword Wii mote game. Opinions?

Not to knock down your opinion or anything, because it is yours and by all means you have the right to express it. But then again, did you happen to even read anything about the game before renting it?

Much better than having to waggle every time I wanted to attack. That's my least favorite thing about Twilight Princess. It gets old really fast. My opinion is they did it exactly right, saving the motion control for finishers/wrestling moves.

As I've been saying for awhile, I need to buy this still.

I loved the controls. Also, I agree with Zero. You should've read up on the game beforehand (I mean, we talked about it enough here...)

Yep, we talked about it PLENTY here.

Game was lots of fun for me. I wasn't expecting 1:1 here, and I had a blast.

Trust me, if you played Red Steel, you would be pretty pleased that they didn't use waggle for sword swings.

@Mxyzptlk : I will probably get carpel tunnel within the century from gaming, but it doesn't take a full-arm swing to get that bad boy to swing the sword, just a flick of the wrist. I do wish waggle was used a bit less sometimes. My wrist is hurting from beating Zach and Wiki this weekend.

I love the game, but it's too easy.

The controls worked really well for me. I loved swinging for the final blow especially with some of the more powerful lightsabers and the bosses were all rally impressive and epic. Some of the best sword fights I've ever had in a game, especially when you get to pull of a wrestling move on a boss, so satisfying. Why in gods name would i want to wave my wiimote around like a made man? plus the games plotline is worth it for its look at gaming culture and why we enjoy killing.

It would've been worse if you swung the Wiimote to attack.

Now Zack and Wiki is a game that knew how to use the WiiMote

Also, NMH is better than 90% of the other games for the Wii even with it's simplistic fight system.

I think I just expected more from all the hype around here the game got. Also I only played for about an hour so maybe I didn't give it the shot that it needed. I think my problem is that I usually only get into 1 game at a time. Meaning that when Halo comes out I only play Halo until i get sick at it. When COD4 came out it was all I played until I got so good it got boring to me. I am not sure if that is a valid excuse but I think I was just bored and tried to rent a game I did not know 2 much about and it was not really in the realm of games I usually like. I was not trying to diss the game with the post just simply wanted to know if I did not give it a fair shot or not because I respect the opinions of the Dtoid Army most of the time.

if this game was waggle for every strike your hands would get tired fast. i think they executed the controlls very well.

I hear where you're coming from, guy.

I want bushido blade wii as much as the next guy.

Definitely don't proceed expecting that, and as a heads up, don't expect much from the overworld sections. Do enjoy the story and the sheer satisfaction of chopping dudes in half (later light sword models are lots of fun to look at and watch)

also, don't be too cool to lol at the game. Its pretty funny, imo.

People need to understand that the Wiimote has limits. It can not sense something like exact placement of where it is or the way you hold it. Thus you're never going to get a game where your character will swing a sword the exact way you swing or hold the sword the exact way you hold it. All it is is a camera sensing IR Leds and then when its not pointing to the screen its getting info from the accelerometer.

@covah. . . well, I think it can be done to a certain degree. You've seen the baseball bat in wii sports before you actually swing right?

The pieces are there to do a really close approximation of 1:1. Its just that no one's really gone for it yet. With any luck, supporting games like NHM will blah blah blha yakkity smackity I want Bushio Blade Wii.

@Snail

Are you playing it on Sweet or Mild? Cause on Mild, the fights where you have to win under the time frame and not get hit are TOUGH.

Share your secrets with me if you're playing it on Mild. I'm serious, I needs some training (everything else in the game I tear to shreds).

I swear they announced that the A button was used to swing absolutely everywhere.

I have to agree with the majority of the comments here, making the game a waggle-fest would've SUCKED. And well, there are still random moments of intense waggling and button-tapping but otherwise, the controls are spot-on. Putting more than a mere hour into a game before giving an opinion is a good idea too..

I love the game. But "wii-mote swinging" wouldn't fit the game at all. It would probably make the controls alot worse.

I don't think it's going to feel that great in Unleashed either. But I guess that's just me.

you originally said you really didn't know that "A" was used to swing for most of the time... them you claim the game was hyped up so much here in your comment to yourself... so which is it? If you read about it so much here on destructoid, how did you not know how the controls worked...? I thought it was fun for what it was, but nothing to hail as game of the year or anything.

Basically I read most of the stories on the site but unless it is about a game I either really like or really can’t wait for I do not pay to much attention to the details. I guess I am saying I remember there being stories on the site but I did not remember much about them, then standing in the isle at blockbuster looking at the limited selection I just reach for the game that I remembered their being a good amount of stories about. I was not trying to say that I had research the game, more like I had seen a picture or 2 on the site just did a robot reach. I have how ever learned a lesson from this whole experience and I will give the game another chance tonight now that I do not have the wrong assumption in my mind.
