Blomkamp High-budget Movie
Captain Morgan | 5:00 PM on 09.18.2008 4 comments

If you have heard of the sci-fi director Niel Blomkamp, then you may have heard that he is making a new movie titled District 9.

I hadn't seen much with it since I first heard of it, but, if you were at Comic-Con, you may have seen signs like the one above. I was exited to see some more on this movie!

It appears to be an expansion on Blomkamps earlier short film Alive in Joburg. However, what really interests me about this upcoming movie is how Sony is running the show. They have launched a viral campaign including an MNU website, a non-human blog, and a D-9 website. If you're interested, check them out:

I hate this viral marketing bullshit. Why don't they just put out a trailer?

Viral is fun for those who are IN on the concept or idea.

Anyway:

I like the short and I look forward to seeing a full feature.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

 about me

Hi.

My real name is Brandon, and yes, I'm drunk.

I am a poor student living in Colorado playing the hell out of my Xbox.

Oh yea! I own a 360

As of now, I also own a NES, a N64, a PS2, and a Gamecube.

I believe that the greatest system made so far has to be the PS2 but feel free to bitch about that.

A few of my favorite games are:

Bioshock
The Legend of Zelda
Final Fantasy X
Gears of War
Halo

I love almost every genre known to man.

"If you are reading this than this is for you. Every word you read of this useless print is another second off your life. Don't you have better things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of something better to do with these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all who claim it? Do you read everything your supposed to read? Do you think everything your supposed to think? Buy what your told you want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove your alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned........"
