Blender 2.48 Released!

For those who don't know what Blender is, it is an incredible free 3d modeler/animator/game maker.

According to the official website, the new features to 2.48 include:

Realtime GLSL Materials
Bullet update + softbodys
Game logic updates
Grease Pencil
Sun, Sky, Atmosphere
Fluid Control
Coloured shadows
Shrinkwrap Modifier
New Python Editor
and more, plus a lot of bug fixes become

The above image is the main character in Blender's new open game project (codenamed Apricot). I've played the technical demo and and it looks fairly decent.

The other thing that I love about blender is that learning code and scripting is not required for the game engine! However, it does run on Python, which many consider to be a fairly easy language to learn.

Using Blender for over a year now, I must admit that it is the one other thing besides games and alcohol that I have become addicted to. I am also a sucker for free stuff, and this has to be some of the best freeware out there. Anyone that knows their way around in the 3d modeling world, or wants to learn it should check it out!

XBOXPure: Fake?

According to someone named "GilZ", the above is a real Microsoft document. As you can see, it seems to list two code names (Xbox-Lean, and Xbox-Granite) and then says "Final 'Xbox-Pure'".

Is this real? Could this be what the Xbox 360 will now be called?

According to the original story, GilZ also broke news of the Elite and HDMI before anyone knew.

Personally, I'm on the wall. Reliable source: maybe, Realistic look: not really. I could probably fake this in my room with a digital camera right now.

Who knows?

Blomkamp High-budget Movie

If you have heard of the sci-fi director Niel Blomkamp, then you may have heard that he is making a new movie titled District 9.

I hadn't seen much with it since I first heard of it, but, if you were at Comic-Con, you may have seen signs like the one above. I was exited to see some more on this movie!

It appears to be an expansion on Blomkamps earlier short film Alive in Joburg. However, what really interests me about this upcoming movie is how Sony is running the show. They have launched a viral campaign including an MNU website, a non-human blog, and a D-9 website. If you're interested, check them out:

The picture says it all. Yippee ki-yay! I've finaly started my blog. I've been on Destructoid for a while now, throwing my opinion where it's not needed. The awesomeness of Destructoid has inspired me to dig into my writer side a bit.
