I personally won't ever trust Mad Catz stuff enough to buy it unless one of their peripherals got a glowing review of being better than the official licensed stuff. Like, for instance, if they came out with a 360 controller that had a working D-pad but was otherwise identical to the MS ones, and it got enough recommendations from others, I'd be all over it.
Oh, I get you. Trust me. I've been cautious for ages.. but then I saw things going down. When MC bought out Saitek, which is known for their more durable design.. and when suddenly MC was buying companies left and right. I can only hope it was in an effort to take the best from the companies to help design something more stable.
I can't wait to try these out.
I enjoy madcatz 360 gamepads because they are easy to open up, solder wires to and use as joystick PCBs... so I will keep buying them as long as they keep using common ground circuits on their boards. But that has nothing to do with rock band, sorry.
Mad Catz is still way better than Pelican. I'm thinking about picking up the bass when I eventually get Rock Band 2, but I want to check out a few reviews of it first. I also wouldn't mind a set of cymbals.
If it's Mad Catz, then I don't buy it, period. Same goes for Pelican and Datel.
God, Pelican & Datel are so fucking bad.
However, Mad Catz isn't that bad, so I might check 'em out, eventually.
I am really interested on the bass.
In theory looks amazing, just want to read reviews.
When it comes to something as expensive as a guitar/drum peripheral, it definitely pays to wait for a review to come out.
I can't say I have high hopes because Mad Catz is a mixed bag. I have a 8 meg PS2 memcard that looks pretty cool and performs just as well as a first party. However, hands on with their PS2 controllers = fail.
MCZ seems pretty intent on turning things around. Admittedly, they've gained a bad reputation (and probably deserved it), but they seem interested in providing high-quality, durable peripherals from here on out. As to convincing gamers of this before going belly-up, I think it can be done.
For example, I used to feel the same way about Logitech and now I turn to them regularly for peripherals. I would love to see them add more, legitimate competition to that market. It's good for consumers (i.e., more awesome products!).
(Disclaimer: I own MCZ shares)
i don't trust any of that shit any further than i can kick it. bad analogy. prob made of cheap plastic and travels well. i don't trust any of that shit. i buy 1st party or nothing.
You know what's so weird, guys? I played Rock Band 2 a LOT last night and surprisingly enough.. the Fender Replica Bass and the new Microphone actually impress me. Like, to degrees where I would go out and buy them OVER the current 1st Party items.
Totally insane. More on this as it develops.
